The assembly went well. Whoever machined the teflon seal did a fine job. Good snap ring pliers are essential and yet there are still some tough rings to expand. Good trick with the glove. I thought that shim stock rolled around the shaft might have worked too. It looks like it'll be working perfectly now because it is As-New. The grease cartridges are a cleaner idea but I still use the messy method to refill. Some fill grease guns right out of a pail of grease with no cardboard tube. That's the old-time way. Have yourselves a fine week ahead!

Thanks. We were very pleased with that seal. I think we will have to buy some snap ring pliers with longer handles to increase the leverage. We are very pleased with how good the rebuilt PTO feels. Take care

Good video. I'm surprised that there isn't a washer between the circlip and the plastic seal. When I bought out an old small engine shop, the tools included a set of thin plastic sleeves for installing seals. they work very nice if lubed up a little. "This isn't the first take of this clip" had me laughing. You delivered the line very well. Good Luck, Rick

Hello Joseph, Lots of circlip fitting practice - lol. I was thinking maybe it would be a good idea to store the PTO for a couple of days (shaft vertical) so that the grease will flow to the bearing without the cover on thus ensuring the grease got there... A nice bit of gravity should do the job fine. Take care. Paul,,

Hi, Hope you can help me. I am a big westwood fan and I came across your video about shredder that does not exist from 3 years ago. I managed to get one like that for my tractor however it is missing mounting bracket to the tractor. I want to make one. Is there a chance you could release measurements of yours so that I could replicate???
@GardenTractorBoy
5 ай бұрын
I can't remember what we mentioned in the video. The mounting bracket did not come with our shedder either and we managed to get ours by looking in detail at every Westwood that came up for sale until we saw one with a bracket. We then offered to buy just the bracket from the seller. We have since found out that Westwood made serveral different types of bracket depending on the model. Our bracket is not perfect on our D1200 so I am guessing that it was made for a different model. Our Westwood is currently in storage, I am happy to get measurments for you but it may take a little while. I will check access over the weekend. Can you drop me an email as that will be easier to send you the information. If you click the ">" symbol on my channel home page it will show you me email address. Take care

Nice job of getting everything back together. I have found that the grooves in the pulley splines and the splines on the PTO shaft sometimes accumulate a smidge of rust in the corners which can make sliding the pulley on and off a little bit snug. I usually use the end of a small flat file or an old broken hack saw blade to clean out any rust in the corners of the splines. Another thing I have found is that if you rotate the pulley splines one or two grooves in relation to the shaft splines the pulley will sometimes slip on easier - seems to be one or two of the six different positions that are the "sweet spots". I also put a light layer of grease on the splines of the pulley and the shaft area between the two snap rings as this seems to help reduce wearing of the splines as the pulley moves against the shaft every time the PTO is engaged. Just suggestions that may help in the future.
