Apparently the 865cc bonneville had a deliberately tall 5th gear to make up for the lack of a sixth. The 900cc water cooled T100 shares this while the 1200cc T120 has 6 narrower gears and those 20 more ponies!

What a ride. What a bike. What a sound. You are very good, but that is too fast for me. It just shows what a wonderful bike the Bonneville is. It can perform like that or be just as good quietly burbling along sedately in town on your way to work. Aggressive or gentlemanly as the mood takes you. A bike with good manners. I had one in the 1960s and is great to see these new editions have captured the style, spirit and class of the originals. Thanx from Australia.

I saw another youtuber talk about this in some detail. (I can't remember who) Apparently it has been sorted out from about the 2022 models on, I think. Though I believe it wasn't always a problem. @@rodirsno I bought mine with Hagon shocks at the back, so I don't know how good or bad the stock suspension is. While the shocks at the back are working fine, the front was working awful. I've done 14000km since I bought my Bonnie SE last year and wasn't satisfied with the front. So I bought TEC progressive fork springs and also changed the oil for a Valvoline 10W. When I disassembled the forks it turned out that there were progressive springs ( also Hagon I think) installed, but in a wrong way.😂 Can't tell you how better or worse the front suspension is now, because there's quite a lot of snow in the place where I live. As for exhaust - I'll probably install some pipes in the future, the stock one are quite heavy. But yeah, I went with the suspension mods at first.

@@vvevvevvvv wise choice to work on the suspension first. I have made these mods on other bikes that are for offroading, not on the Bonnie yet. What is your gearing ratio? looks much more relaxed than my nervous thruxton 900
@rodirsno
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Giordano, I wish I could tell you more other than that it is bone stock. There might be some differences between the T100, SE, Mag wheel standard, and Thruxton models - but I got no clue sadly. I can just say that gear 4 and 5 are very very long and it is impossible to redline the bike in the last gear and very hard to in 4th. In the first three gears it is smooth with its 69hp but it will pack quite a punch from 5500rpm to the rev limiter and they have just the right length to ride smoothly but quick. I like it.
@giordanogomato3559
3 жыл бұрын
@@rodirsno It must have different ratios then. My Thruxton redlines in 5th at 200 on the clock. But it revs too high. Motorway speed like 110kph in 5th it runs about 5000rpm. Will get a 19 teeth front gear.
