Nah, won't be buying it. I was hoping for a Max Air, with same writing feel improvement as Note Air 2, but Max Lumi 2 isn't that, and as beastly as it is, they did something to the screen surface and made it very glary and fingerprint happy, making it a distraction, and for me personally, an unnecessary problem, since Max Lumi 1 didn't have that. Maybe it's possible to just remove that, I'll ask the., In which case, that would be a good thing, coz I really don't like that surface.

@@MyDeepGuide Is this issue really bad? From the video I could notice the fingerprints where quite visible in the first minutes but after you turned on the device the illumination masked them. @@MyDeepGuide Voja, some guy in the Onyx Facebook group applied a Doodroo screen protector over the new surface sheet and It fixed both the glare and the writting feel issue, at it's best. The new problem is Doodroo's screen shield "eats" the nibs so happily that just after a week of heavy use you're forced to change them, altogether. But they say the writting experience mimics paper so good that you couldn't tell the difference. 🤷♂️

I am very much enjoying my Lumi2, but yes, I was hoping we would get a revamped casing, in the style of Note Air or the Nova Air. But, it is incredibly light for such a big device. I was disappointed in the same 207 dpi, but the new screen makes text noticeably clearer and Kindle text, on Normal mode, is nice and crisp. PS, the Google Play certification was a royal pain in the @$$. I never had any problems on previous Onyx devices, but did on the Lumi2. I did about 3 factory resets before it worked. I'd rather prefer it in Voja quality _(poor < fair < good < very good < excellent < godmode < Voja level)_ that in speed mode. So, I'll be patient! Just to take into account with a view to the final review: The day the factory screen protector wears off... how easy is it to replace it? Is there any good alternative out in the market? It seems the screen protector is a fingerprint magnet... how annoying could this be? Which pen and nib would be optimal to preserve the screen protector and still having a good experience in writting? How much good is the Encarta 1250 in comparison with the previous Max Lumi? Can you tell the contrast and speed difference? Does it drain the battery faster than the former model? Is it a better watching experience than the Fujitsu Quaderno 2nd gen, using the same tech? Which configuration do you find optimal to set the contrast up, both for text and graphics? Thank you for your vids! P.S.: Take care of that cold and get well soon!

Nice first impressions, Voja. Just got my Lumi 2. My question is more of a BOOX rather than Lumi question. I was reading and highlighting a PDF. Is there an easy way to switch between the regular pen you use and the highlighter? If, say you are on the highlighter pen, you have to click the bar, click the highlighter button, switch to the pen, and then switch the color of the pen back to black. It seems like a lot of steps just to go between a pen and a highlighter pen. Any thoughts on that?

I was thinking of purchasing a Boox e-reader. Thankyou for doing a thorough job of reviewing these devices. There is one thing thats got me worried and its the life time of the battery. In 2019 I've read that there has been cases of devices failing because of the battery needing replacement. I was hoping the batteries would last much longer than 3 years. What are your thoughts on this because its something you don't cover in any of your reviews?
@MyDeepGuide
2 жыл бұрын
That was basically 1 person being extremely loud on all online media channels, and when pressed for details it turned out that he was using an old Max device constantly plugged into a charger and as an external monitor, so in a state of constant discharge and charge. After months of such use, the battery on that device gave up (naturally) and when he reached out to Boox for repair, he was told that he can send it back, but because it's a damaged battery, it's not allowed on airplanes, so it had to go by ship, and that the whole thing would last several weeks. So he decided, as a response to that, to throw the device in trash and complain online. There are also people who were in a similar situation, but have went through with the process and got back a fixed device that worked fine afterwards. And there are also a handful of people who would speed charge the device while leaving it out in the sun, which is another recipe to kill any battery, including the ones on these devices. So no, the only unusual thing that I have seen is an unbalanced bias against a company, because at the same time we had Samsung phones and iPhone phones and Tesla cars spontaneously combusting, yet the attitude towards those companies for the same tech vulnerability was quite different. I personally own several of Boox device and have used them normally, as I use any other device, after 2 years, I haven't seen even a significant battery capacity diminishment, let alone a problem of some sort. So, Nova 2, Poke 2 and my Note Air 1, all used quite a lot, used normally, none of them have had any battery issues, but, I take care of my devices and don't do things that will damage a battery on any device, so may e that's the difference, but since I never had a single issue with it, that's why I don't cover it, it's not an issue.

Short question, i am not sure what to buy, Lumi 2 or Papyr, what do you think is the better device at all?
@MyDeepGuide
2 жыл бұрын
They are quite different products. Papyr is a very specific product, it does certain things in a brilliant and a different way than other platforms, however it also has quite a few limitations, so it's not a product for everyone, but if it fits your specific needs, then nothing else offers such functionality. You need to do research to fully inform yourself what the functionality and limitations of each platform is and then you will more easily understand which device and platform fits your own specific needs best. As an overall, multi functional tablet, Max Lumi 2 is more versatile and powerful, but it can't do certain things Papyr can, such as converting documents into notebooks, inserting pages into documents, infinite canvas, real-time collaborative sharing of the same work book etc.
