I know that setup defies everything that BOSE has instructed to do with this PA, but the sound is quite good

Yep... it works. The lines are voiced with the same x-over, and there's no standard horn, so it is fine. It actually enhances directivity and also couples the sub SPL. Just because something wasn't designed to do it, doesn't mean it can't lol. Sometimes, you have to do unconventional things -- like turning a speaker upside down to couple horns together. You do what the gig requires :) I just wonder if the top boxes are secured. Ordinarily, you'd use tie downs when doing that.

I stacked them in a hall. They sounded great. I think Bose is more concerned with improper tethering and rigging hence the speakers falling down and possibly injuring someone. My take on it is all it takes is a little common sense and some ratcheting ties to design a system that works for stacking the 812's.

just an idea Get a set of box truss and build 2 of the mid range f1 812 on the middle over the top, or even maybe on the floor but on its side. It will be better for the audience on the middle of the concert. they will get a better sound quality.

how much bass are you actually getting off 4 subs ? i am asking as i am not sure what i need to do with my set up. I have been told i really need to add a pair of 18" sub cabs for lower bass but i have been also told that the 812 tops couldn't handle the 18" subs .. Ive been told that i should just get a second pair of bose subs and it will be fine , as it all works as a complete system , that pushes bass better than 18" subs ... so I'm kind of lost really on the su object as i cant just throw away lots of money and be unsatisfied .. I play in a 3 piece rock /punk infused band so really need the bottom end

Hi Christopher, my two cents... I've got 2 tops and 4 subs. in the beginning, I bought 1 sub just to test. I ran two Peavey SP-4's at 4 ohms with a 5000 watt Peavey amp. I then ran my Roland TD-30KV kit into the system. The dual 15's (per side) just didn't have the capability to reproduce my secret weapon (808 auxiliary kick). when I brought the F-1 sub into the mix, the entire thing just blew me away! The two 10's literally made everyone come outside to investigate what was going on! 2 10's can keep up with a single 18 all day, so with that in mind, I got an additional sub and a complete F-1 812 system. I'd put it up against ANY 218 sub per side with single 12's and a horn any day, any time. Bear in mind, I can carry my entire system in a Toyota Highlander, load in and out myself AND never pick up anything that weighs more than my old lady! No More dual axle trailers and full-sized heavy duty trucks for me. Bottom line...after contemplating my new system, I'm more than satisfied! I don't have a tone match, I run a Midas M-32 .

@@mfc1965 thanks for commenting .. i will be getting 2 more f1 subs for my system > its good to hear form some one that has gone this way .. I cant afford to play around and spend money that i cant re spend again .. I think what bothers me is that i am so use to 18" subs from the old days with folded speakers the size of a tank blows me away that i can have a good sound system with only 10" subs .. and not have to break my back and carry all the power amps as well .. I didn't want to stray from the system but was finding it hard to get many inputs as the system is expensive and not every one can afford it .. thanks for the advice

Yes, you did! Read your comment again. Don't worry, Bose is good when it comes to audio equipment. It's meant for people who want portability and room filing sound. It's very obvious, most of us in the industry are like one man/girl army, so need Bose equipment. While the well established ones with huge team, will go for some giant speakers.

I am a huge F1 Fan, and own several, but why would you even bother with all that. Get a better, bigger, more suited setup for large events. One RCF 8004 has more output than two F1 subs, but a long shot, and the NX-L24A will blow away 812s. Be smart about it.
