U-S troops at the Tuzla air base in Bosnia are extending their foot patrols to include surrounding villages.
They say the main purpose of the patrols is one of reassurance.
Christmas is over for these U-S troops as they get back on the road.
They have widened the area for their foot patrols around the air base to include surrounding villages.
There are already more than one thousand American paratroopers at the Tuzla airport base.
Backing up the foot patrols are Black Hawk helicopters, surveying the area from the air - all part of the security to be provided for Bosnians living in the area.

The reason why we do these patrols is real simple. We get out there and make sure nothing crazy is going on, make sure the local population see us as a visible presence. We don't do nothing out of the ordinary, we just go up and down and make sure everything is good to go and that nothing hostile is happening, nothing crazy.

Check points have also been set up throughout the area. Meanwhile transport planes with more troops and equipment continue to land at the airport.
Around 20-thousand Americans will arrive within a week in the Tuzla area to police the ceasefire recently signed by the warring factions.
