Simple fix for tap tempo issue is setting SYSTEM/RHYTM TEMPO = FIXED - then selected tap tempo stays. Also check out PARALLEL mode too - you can lay down short loop - letsay you lay down funk groove with bass (from octave pedal) on TRK1 - step and hold RHYTHM and press LOOP - that switches to TRK2 - TRK1 is still playing. Now you can play some progression that is several times longer than TRK1 - and you get TRK1 looped to fit the length of TRK2. This is really poorely described in manual and almost nowhere on YT.

I think the problem you are having with the external footswitch is that you need to use a TRS cable for both switches to be recognised. Using a standard TR cable means only one of the buttons is recognised.

How long can you record on the boss "RC 10" before i loop?
@sheoak

Instead of using a TRS footswitch, you can use a MIDI footswitch, then you have access to many parameters. For example something like the airstep can send any MIDI CC to control track 1 or 2 start, stop, clear and you could use a MIDI controller with knobs to control loop levels from a table/desk. I think they didn’t include clear function, which is a bummer…

The thing about this pedal that interests me the most is that it has outro fills from what I hear. Endings. Which is great because how do you end a song with a looper? Fade outs but I hate fade outs. It's so overdone. On the other hand, these drums sound very polished, very professional and that might be a little artificial sounding. I'm going to want to do a few songs live and if it's a straight pattern, I imagine people would think "Oh, he's got a thing that sounds like drums.". But with this, it seems like I'm using someone else's stuff. Like canned music, y'know? I don't want to sound like I'm using canned music. Maybe I'll buy a programmable drum machine. Or a computer. That seems a bit much though. I'm not sure what to do.

The clear all function is not on the Boss RC-10R but on the audience listening. They will be gone after all that noise trying to clear the loops😂.

For what miss the most is a precount and an autamatic start as i play and be able to listen the battery before i start to play as in the RC3 they are stupide to not put this inside

My main interest at the moment is to get a good range of pre-set drum beats for which I can set the bpm. The looping is a new thing for me but I look forward to playing with that. I make simple recordings using the Zoom Q2n video recorder so record loud, live and crude (un-mixed), so very amateur. But here's the thing, I use a Roland Cube RX for guitar and the pre-set drum rhythmns (using an FS6 footswitch) are limited but more importantly, setting the bpm by tapping is a pain, especially when you have to do it every time you turn on. Would the RC-10r do the job and will there be a good selection of drums beats ?

Very informative! I have the same Ampero switch but when I connect it to the RC-10r and assign any action to the buttons, the device goes nuts. I don't know exactly what it does but it clears my recorded loop. then the red circle starts to rotate but with spaces in between. very confusing. Any idea?

Great demo. I’m on the fence on this. I did order one but backed out because of the negative things I heard. I’ve been using an RC-3 since 2016 but the rhythms are pretty limited.

Go ahead and dive in. An expression pedal or midi pedal will make life easier, but you can get away with not having those. They ironed out all the bugs and in settings you can turn of intros and outros. Upload, or load programmed patches to mass storage. It has hi/lo EQ. I've only had mine a few day and looked over the firmware change logs. All good! Some prefer the RC-500 and just announced is the 600 model. But 200 is a great pedal, no regrets.

Your guitar playing is really beautiful. The vibrato could be a tad slower, but like Robben Ford said, your vibrato is your sound, so it's a matter of taste. What comes to the RC-10R pedal, it's spot on! If you compare it to the newer and simpler RC-5, many of the problems have been fixed in the newer models. Btw, you don't necessarily have to use a Boss power supply - it just has to provide good, clean regulated 9V power. I guess one of the reasons Boss/Roland put the "our power only" sticker is because they've got so much bad experience from people using low-quality power supplies.

They say to only use Boss pwr supply so they get more sales. Every business does that, in both music gear and everything else.
