I dig it. Nothing wrong with celebrating 50 years with a cool color.

Out of curiosity, I recorded the 1st test of both pedals from this video using the loopback feature of my audio interface, and I lined up those 2 and flip the phase on one (this is a null test), there's an audible audio. The result is there's a sound, not completely silence/zero. So, there might be some difference on both, even if it's minimal. You can also try it (do the null test).

Wow!! I’ll check that out, very curious. What audio interface do you have?

@@GuitarPracticeHub I use Steinberg UR22C that has loopback feature but any other interface with loopback will do (or just grab the audio from youtube and compare it)

I think the point is just anniversary with a limited edition of 7000 per each. Not overly expensive with a serial number. I’ll get all of them as collectors items. You know how the market works. Love my Boss pedals!

Yeah, I agree, still was a fun video to make. My 50th anniversary pedal looks better on my pedalboard than my regular old one, haha.

There is a difference! I used SD-1 pedals for years! Most will not notice :) the older models, without the SMD stuff would suffer from some tone suck and. Something called the ghost issue :) whatever it was called! You basically could hear the drive sound still with the pedal off but it was so low! nobody would really notice or care! that’s all been corrected with the modern versions! Putting that all aside, they all sound more or less the same! Just very slight differences that most won’t care about! Especially an audience :) I have heard the modern version have a very slight bit more bass? I actually used my pedals with a GE-7! Didn’t matter :) shape the sound

I don’t hear the gold paint? The price hike isn’t warranted imo. I will say it is nicer than the crayola colors boss typically uses.

Lol, me neither! Yeah, it looks pretty cool in comparison. Still, I’ve wasted more money on more useless things than this pedal, so I’m happy 😃

People should just learn how to use their amp and guitar controls before spending money on effects. I bet people save a lot of money in the end if they did this first.

@@fattony4961yeah, true. Your fingers need to know that fretboard first and foremost, I do love me some delay though, so need effects for that. All are tools in the toolbox.

@@GuitarPracticeHub one area I overlooked and never gave it a thought are strings. Another area overlooked. Just this year alone having tried @5 different types and each gave different string tones.

@@fattony4961what strings are your favourite and have a tone that you like? I just got a new guitar, it’s a hollow body archtop and I’m really enjoying the flat wound strings that are on it. Have a real smooth tone. Sounds so good through a tube amp with a bit of reverb.

Not for these pedals but for lots of gear, yes the audience can tell the difference. "The audience can't tell" seems to be an excuse that has been adopted by musicians who cannot afford or don't want to eq gear right. For example, they'll tell you your audience can't tell a difference between a les paul or a strat if they don't see them - which is silly. I play at a church with 5-6,000 people weekly and people can tell the different of an amp I switched out, even though there's no amps visible on stage. They will notice something is different.....

@@PedalPoopersI agree with you. Our ears do an amazing job at discerning difference in sounds, tones and harmony. Even if we’re not able to articulate what those differences may be.
