Look how nice it was. No drugs no tramps no foreign dealers taking over the town.

Go to Bournemouth every year used to be Weymouth as well . Westover road has literally gone down hill since Odean and ABC shut in 2017 and still not been regenerated 1991 the ice rink shut . Going to the pubs is different maybe 🤔 just me being nostalgic but people and places change but nice to remember the old times .

Just back from a week in Bournemouth. What a mis-managed mess it has become. Interesting to note that even during the mid 80's and early 90s, there is still a lot of vacant shops especially around Gervis Place and Westover Road... But what a tragedy, Westover Road and the cinemas have gone to ruin, still no ice rink, huge lack of quality accommodation in the town, all the big name stores have moved out or relocated to Castle point, the East Cliff Lift is damaged beyond repair, all the students now live in managed accommodation (no out of season income for guest houses). Even the famous Yellow Bus company went bankrupt and gone forever. You can't drive through Poole Park anymore, Poole pottery is gone... Now I hear the sandbanks ferry is on its last legs as well.... It used to be "Better in Bournemouth", now it's all doom and gloom...

It was beautiful then. Today everywhere is garbage, few flowers, holes in the streets. On the other hand, you need a beach wheel that nobody uses, and a lot of stupid signs and prohibitions.

Shame no date. I was on a detachment in Bournemouth in 91, it was a bus man's holiday to me, well a train man's holiday as we went by train. I grew up by the seaside. I lost my wallet with my forces ID in, and thankfully some kind soul handed it in to the police station. If they had not, then I would have had a £1,000 fine and charged (arrested). My neighbour is from Bournemouth, he still mentions it from time to time, today in fact telling me about going sea fishing. We stayed about 1/2 mile to a mile from the town centre, and often used to walk down the beach to go to the clubs, well £1 a pint in those days, it was rude not too.
