Agreed. A true punch comes from all your body weight. That’s why a boxer’s punch is much different from a regular person’s arm punch . That is why it is technically illegal for a trained professional boxer to hit someone unles their life is in danger , because their hands are technically weapons . They can kill a average person with no gloves on who is not use to taking that type of blow . It will kill some boxers .

This is called the kinematic sequence, it can be applied to any sport, and is the way the human body can generate the most amount of speed. It is generally applied to golf, but when you break it down it can be applied to any athletic movement that requires generating as much speed and power as possible. The whip analogy is spot on, essentially turning your body into a whip.

If you want to see the absolute best boxer at taking advantage of the Kinetic Chain in history, nobody, and I mean nobody did it better than Mike Tyson at his prime. Every single bob and weave coiled his whole body to it's maximum, so when he unloaded, every single punch was fast, and a power punch. It's what made him such a dangerous heavyweight. He was one of the smallest, and was impossible to hit. And his coiled punches made him the hardest puncher in the ring with everyone he faced.

@@pimpskywalker3187 if the knee is bent then you are leaking kinetic energy. Similar to pitching in baseball. T maximize the kinetic energy that legs gotta be straight. I understand, as a kickboxer, that you can’t do that every time but when you want the power. You want to snap that leg back like a catapult and follow through.
@mohaastella
Жыл бұрын
Can someone link me more info on this. I thought it was wrong to have it straight like that .
@mohaastella
Жыл бұрын
Okay I'm convinced it is bullshit. You can catapult all your weight into a baseball throw like that but it is not how it is in boxing, and even then I'd imagine you will need to throw more of yourself side ways, not remain square with the lead leg in front stopping the momentum like in the video.
@jacquep2363
Жыл бұрын
@@mohaastella if you don’t stop the momentum from leaking out of the front leg (knee) you are losing kinetic energy. Locking the front knee forces all of the energy to come out through the arm/hand and doesn’t get wasted. I’m talking how to maximize explosiveness. In an actual fight you wouldn’t punch that way because it leaves you defenseless. But just throwing as hard as possible.. that knee has to catapult.

This was a very vague explanation of how to generate power. I don’t know if you know how to properly box, but when you throw a cross, rotate your hip and your foot to generate more power. You can get an idea of what it should look like when you do this by just watching the lower half of the skeleton throwing the cross in this video.

If you’re not sure about stance, put your elbows near and in front of your ribs. They don’t have to be directly on your chest to my knowledge. He's right, size does matter many people underestimate this statement, but some also overestimate it, know that knocking someone out doesn't take a whole lot of force, it mainly takes precision and good accuracy, with decent force behind it, if your opponent is much bigger, you can still knock them out if you punch with good form and it lands properly on their face Tip: try to cut angles and punch so that your opponent doesn't see the punch coming, making it more likely to knock em out, reference: mike tyson's/cus's Peek-a-boo style

Along with back strength. Back muscles are the most recruited muscle groups, then obliques and hips.

Size also means the kinetic linking,speed,your own mass,pivoting your heels, twisting your hips,using your back well basically the whole body. Dont let height or weight be a downfall for ya yes it helps the other guy but a 4 year old can knock out a yokozuna if he does a proper punch to the jaw or temple
