In my opinion, BoTW completely changed the open world genre which is what makes it so good and unique.

People say botw changed open world but I dare to say it changed gaming as a whole. It set the bar so high no one has even tried to come close since it released. Most studios are only focused on releasing a successful product (which is fair). While I think totk is not as revolutionary, I love it and I think it’s a love letter to botw fans. I’m so glad the series managed to evolve and reach these new heights! I hope the team at Nintendo keeps and expands upon this new style.

@@Harry-potter7 I was addicted to totk for like a month straight, so I don't think it's a bad game per se. The fusion/ultrahand was also brilliant although I don't think it lived up to its potential. The overworld shrines were pretty good too My problems though, are basically that the game stopped being as fun once I understood the systems which wasn't the case for botw, and it just felt a LOT more padded than botw. The depths was a giant cookie cutter grind hole that became less fun the more you explored it, the sky islands were just as baren with like the same shrine on all of them, and the caves had the exact same problem. Even the Addison sign thing was a cool minor thing that they pasted all over the map to fill space. I personally reall prefer games to be concise and trim stuff like that. I also just preferred the botw version of like everything, the shrines, the weapon system, the dungeons, the story, probably everything else I could probably make an hour long presentation on my totk opinions but I think that was the big stuff

I would t say greatest. Add in Zora, Gordon, Rito, Kokiri masks AND the ability to swim underwater with the zora mask and fly with the Rito mask- THAT is the greatest game of all.

I know u aint asking me but in my opinion I didn't have the same overwhelming experience because I've already played both before tears and it takes away lots of the exploration and magic that both had because I already know where everything is like mini games and stuff.

@@Dukey_pookie I like BotW, but it felt so empty. What was the point of exploring if all I was going to be met with was empty grassy plains, Korok poo or a shrine that was pretty boring. TotK adding caves, chasms, wells, meaningful side quests, shrines that are actually pretty fun due to Link's new toolset...I don't know, I actually remember areas in TotK that were just a blur to me in BotW due to there being nothing worthwhile in a lot of those areas in BotW

"The story is actually quite good" Tell me you have played very few other games without telling me. I love Breath of the Wild, but this simply isn't true. While The Legend of Zelda is arguably one of Nintendo's more story-heavy franchises, in the larger landscape of games their stories actually tend to be quite light-weight. And Breath of the Wild is has one of the lightest-weight stories in the series. Don't get me wrong, the story and characters of BotW have a lot of potential. But nothing is done with it, and you are forever isolated from it in service of never enforcing any linearity upon the game.

Breath of the Wild actually has a good story. But you really have to think about it to understand why it’s good.
@timschommer8548
23 күн бұрын
@@HungryWarden Then how about you explain what makes it good, and I will explain what makes it not so good. Tldr; the story is incredibly simple and has no impact on the game. 1. As a game, the story should impact our actions and new information should alter our direction. But, in Breath of the Wild, it doesn't. Every bit of story is either us working to accomplish an already known goal in the present, or getting information on what happened in the past, information that does nothing to inform our present goals. The closest the game comes to having goals change with the story is when you need to raid the Yiga base. 2. Every major character can be completely summarized with just a few notes, with Zelda having the most (but still only a handful) and also being the only character who changes at all over the course of the story. I can demonstrate this if necessary. 3. A paragraph is sufficient to completely summarize the story without missing any major plot points. Again, I can demonstrate if necessary.
