I have been doing this show since 2006, and I love going back and listening to earlier episodes to see how they hold up 10 - 15 years later. Today’s episode is the very first interview I did with Brené Brown 10 years ago, and I had no idea how much she was going to change my life.
Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation - Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers.
Brené Brown has helped me see the world through a new lens, and to understand the world and myself. In this episode, we talk about perfection, worthiness, understanding the stories we tell ourselves, developing emotional literacy, and the correlation between loving ourselves and the ability to love others.
Our self-love can limit the love we give to other people, so I invite you to love yourself - all of yourself - including your strengths, flaws, and weaknesses. Be gentle with yourself so you can be gentle with those you lead.
Join us this week to discover why we are hardwired for belonging and why we are all innately worthy of love. I’m sharing three key learnings from this interview with Brené that are still applicable 10 years on, and how you can take these learnings and incorporate them into your life.
