Love me an Aeropress, my favourite way to make coffee on the go 😊

Will you tell me why you pour a small amount of water and let it Bloom, then add the remaining water? Why not just pour the whole amount of water, let it Bloom? No one has given me an adequate answer on this.

Yeah, blooming gives the coffee a chance to degas, it removes carbon dioxide that gets built up in the cell structure of the bean during roasting. Carbon dioxide by nature is bitter, so this reduces the possibility of adding bitterness to your brew.

@Sprometheus yes, I agree that's what blooming does, but why can't you fill all the way, let Bloom and stir, or stir and let Bloom. Filling all the way and Blooming accomplish same thing.

What are you brewing into? Fellow small carafe? Does it seem strong enough to not burst from pressing directly into the vessel? Is the opening compatible with a clever brewer?

Seems like a pretty dark roast from your norm. Care to share what beans those are? How was it?

You should give the inverted method a try, once I learned it I never looked back. Little to no mess, no drips, and you can allow the grind to steep for longer periods.

How long have you been using the Aeropress? Judging by the red lettering I am assuming you’ve been tinkering with it only recently.

So, does the read letter wear down too much?

@@Miguel_Noether The red lettering is a new-ish feature on Aeropresses. They were manufactured with gold lettering until 2019, I believe.

Why not use the inverted method to avoid the early drips?

Apparently according to James Hoffmann there little to no difference in taste to justify the added risk of burning yourself

@@samueltaylor2757 I have been using inverted since 2009, haven't burned myself yet. I have tipped it over a couple of times, quit a mess to clean up.

Really, around 25 on the niche? I’ve been grinding at like 50-60 and it tastes like mud and blows the roof off next doors house

So American. Diluted sissy coffee. Sad we Italians had to create the *Americano* because they didn't like or love strong coffee. Drip and Eropress. Basic diluted coffee. No wonder i find the taste unenjoyable and gross. All about Espresso or coffee from a Moka Pot.

Being ignorant?! The best coffee is the one you enjoy, there is no right answer and some beans taste better if diluted with water. I had better espressi outside of Italy to be honest. You also think Italians invented the cappuccino, hm? Get off your high horse.

Stop being elitist and let people enjoy what they enjoy. This is such a negative attitude to have, you're not the arbiter of good taste. You can't judge subjectivity. Get off your high horse and be nice to people.
