The traditional relationship between investors and IR is complicated. Expectations are blurry, success criteria is poorly defined (if it is at all), and engagement is infrequent and disjointed.
If I’m an investor, I want to have the confidence and TRUST that you (IR team) know who I am and what I need/want. I expect this because from my perspective, I've given you all that you should need to lead me to success.
IR to investor engagement is a must. But HOW you engage your investors (Channel, frequency, content, etc.) is a mystery to most. Capturing engagement data, including sentiment, is a requirement to build trusted, long lasting investor relationships. The challenge for IR is capturing all engagement data, both structured and unstructured, creating a single view of each investor. If you do, then delivering personalized experiences to each unique investor is attainable, sustainable, and repeatable.
