They can sub players each play. And it’s 11 players at a time. There are 3 different teams on each team. There is the offense, defense and special teams (kick offs, punts and extra points). So there is a lot of on and off the field for most players. If you watch a game start to finish, you’ll see what i mean. I love watching people from other countries get into American football. There are always so many questions. Too many to answer at once. But you’ve got a good start. There are tons of videos you could check out. Look forward to seeing what you choose. :)

If you hear a quarterback yell "kill", that means he's telling them to kill the play and he'll yell another nickname to change the play. The quarterback usually does this when he sees the defense lined up a certain way and he thinks he knows what the defense is doing. Hopefully that cleared it up for you!

Yeah, this is a good point. The loudest stadiums can impart a serious home field advantage for the home team. Sometimes it's loud enough that the visiting team will have to spend valuable practice time during the week and practicing silent counts and hand signals because they know the stadium will be too loud to communicate verbally.

What is secretly the real critical difference between American Football and Association rules Football (soccer) is that in American Football every play is a set play, you can have 53 players on a roster, and there are unlimited substitutions between every set play. So unlike in soccer where everyone but the goalkeeper needs to have the full range of essential skills as well as good stamina, in American Football there are many players who are only good at one specific thing and nothing else, and it isn't a problem because they'll only be on the field for that one set play. That's why there are such extremes in body types. For example, it's okay for some players to weigh 160kg because their one specific job is to be impossible to push out of the way. Whereas another player can be small, weak AND slow, because his only job is to kick the ball with pinpoint accuracy. What that means however is that on any given set play, the vast majority of the team (42 out of 53 players) will be standing around doing nothing. And often they'll know that the situation for them to play isn't going to happen soon, so the helmets come off as they're a bit uncomfortable. Anyway, this is what makes American Football so unusual and leads to the big divergence in gameplay and strategy. I don't know of any other team sport in which the team roster has 5 times as many players as the maximum number of players allowed on the field, and all of them will usually get on the field at some point. There's no reason you couldn't play American Football with a team of 15 total players -- my school team didn't have many more than that -- but then everyone would start looking like rugby players because they'd all need to be good at every aspect of the game, instead of being extremely specialized and carefully training to do only one role as perfectly as possible.
@lavluka6210

This was an insane explanation I genuinely didn't even know that, on average how long would you say a player spends on the field during a game?
@TwenOalley
4 жыл бұрын
@@lavluka6210 About half the game, unless you're not a primary player. e.g there's 5 receivers on a team, but most plays only use 1-3 receivers, the other 2 are substitutes. Each position has a backup player generally. Sometimes players are backups for multiple positions though. This is important because there's usually an injury every game. And if not players are still rotated. There's about 35-40 different players who will be on the field throughout the game per team. special teams guys only play during kicking plays. the special teams unit generally is made up of subs and people who specialize in these plays like the long snappers (a "snap" is throwing or handing the ball between your legs to another player to begin a play, all plays start with this action), kickers, and kick returners. Players never are part of the offense and defense, aside from some rare plays. However, it's not super uncommon for a player to do special teams and sometimes participate in the offensive or defensive unit. Many players probably could play both offense and defense, but it makes more sense to specialize since they already have to memorize a playbook for offense or defense which is enough work. These three groups have their own coach, and each team has a head coach as well (manager). There's more specific coaches, but they're generally only relevant in practice, not ingame playcalling.

If you’re near the field, you can hear players talking and the noises on the field. If the visiting team has the ball; the noise is deafening. I went to a Baltimore Ravens game a few years ago, my hearing wasn’t alright for 2 days afterward. I heard later that the Ravens did some unofficial decibel testing and the Ravens fans we’re making 144 decibels. It’s unofficial, Guinness Officials weren’t there so it didn’t count but that kind of noise can cause permanent damage. Different players need more or less breaks during a game. Some never come out unless ordered out and others have a oxygen mask glued to their face by simply standing up.

The 11 offensive players are completely different players from the 11 defensive players. So there are 22 different starters-- 11 defensive players and 11 offensive players. And there are back-up players that can substitute in and out between plays to relieve the starters. But if there is a turnover, for example, the entire offense comes off the field and the entire defense replaces the offensive players. That is what you saw in that clip. "Bosa" is a defensive player and he created a turnover. The guys putting on their helmets were offensive players who were now going into the game while Bosa and the rest of the defensive players went off the field.

The only time for mass exchanges is when offense and defenses come on and special teams come on and off the field. Substitutions are as needed. If the defense is on the field, then offensive players are on the sidelines with their helmets off. The players you see with their helmets on are defensive players who are prepared to substitute, if needed. And the reverse happens when the offense is on the field of play.

Also, sometimes they will show these mic'd up moments from earlier in the game during a break. The person snapping the ball is always mic'd up so that's how you can hear the quarterback and some grunting after the ball is snapped when you're watching it on TV. And Odell Beckham Jr. (3:42) is a good wide receiver but he gets frustrated easily if he doesn't get the ball thrown his way enough. He seems to be stuck on teams that aren't doing well so far (the Giants and the Browns), which doesn't help his frustration issues. I would say Lamar Jackson, Christian McCaffrey, Nick Bosa, Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson, and Minkah Fitzpatrick are having really good seasons this year.

QB is the quarterback and good QBs make over 15 million a year and some like tom brady, aron rodgers,russel wilson make over 20 million a year.
