@@DNReacts Gonna throw this out there in case you didn't know, but the first year with the Knights, when we made it to the Stanley Cup finals as a first-year expansion team, was also the same year of the October 1 shooting on the strip. The Knights really helped bring the City together during a horrific tragedy. The class and compassion shown by the team as well as their underdog pursuit of the cup strengthened the bond between the franchise and the city in a way I don't think will ever be broken. It was amazing even though we ultimately lost the cup that year. This cup was the conclusion to that fantastic run that started 6 years ago. #VegasStrong

From an AP artical about VGK and the shooting - On Oct. 1, 2017, the Golden Knights were finishing training camp, five days from playing the first NHL game in team history and nine days from their home opener. Vegas sports fans were abuzz about the city’s first major league team. But then a sniper opened fire from a Strip hotel’s 32nd floor, initially killing 58 at an outdoor country music concert. Two more died years later. More than 800 people were wounded. The team scrapped its raucous opening night celebration. The boards that surround the ice were stripped of ads, replaced by the motto “Vegas Strong.” The pregame focus was on victims and first responders. It culminated with then-defenseman Deryk Engelland giving an emotional speech. ”To the families and friends of the victims, know that we will do everything we can to help you and our city heal,” said Engelland, who now works for the team’s foundation. During that season’s home games, the Knights recognized the Vegas Strong Hero of the Game, a first responder or citizen who risked their life to save the wounded. At the regular season’s conclusion, the Knights retired the number 58 for the victims who had died to that point. The names of all 60 victims are on a banner hanging in the arena’s rafters.

In regular season it's definitely not necessary to keep scoring in a game like this, but on the other hand, hockey can be so flukey sometimes, there is never a reason to let up. Vegas went through giving up 4 goals in 5 minutes a few years ago. It's always unlikely, never impossible.

6:25 The announcer was referring to the current in-game situation, not that the panthers were tired as a team. Before that Goal Vegas had about 2-3 minutes of sustained pressure. Florida wasn't able to get the puck out of their end of the ice, and weren't able to make a line change. Your own bench is always closest to your goal in Periods 1&3, and farthest from your own goal in the 2nd. This can encourage situations like what happened to Florida here. Vegas with constant control of the puck inside their own center line is able to make quick changes right in front of their offensive zone, cycling fresh legs on the ice constantly. Florida unable to clear, cannot leave their defensive zone unguarded to go down in front of their offensive zone to change. Even NHL Athletes who are some of the most insanely conditioned on the planet will be completely out of gas if a shift goes much longer than 2 minutes. Especially a high intensity shift like constant defensive zone battles. Eventually the entire game for them becomes "can the gassed team find a way to ice the puck?" They won't even be able to change after, but the 30 second stoppage is what they desperately need to hopefully muster up enough strength to make 1 play to get a clean clear and get off the ice. You might even see the affected team call their only timeout they get a game after icing it, to give their desperate defenders a few extra minutes to catch their breath. Something like this is a huge factor in games, that you'll never get to see on a highlight compilation.

6:28 The announcers were talking about Vegas' 4th goal which was right after their 3rd goal and the Florida Panthers were on defense for nearly 2 straight minutes, one player breaking his stick early in the shift, and they couldnt get new players on the ice because they are on defense, and eventually Vegas out played them

The "tired" and "out of gas" comments were to do with the length of the ice time shifts the Panther pairing offensive lines had, versus the Knight's Defensive players. That's one of the benefits of Home Ice advantage, the Home team gets last line change, and can switch match ups between respective offensive/defensive players the Away team puts on the ice. This can lead to the Away team leaving some players out longer than they ordinarily would on a shift, and they end up being exhausted and slower than the fresh new line up from the Home team. It's more complicated than that really, but you get the drift I hope.

Great reaction, Gents. My Panthers and Heat took it on the chin, boys. Damo, you jinxed us.😂 It was rough, but it was gonna be hard to win with how injured we were. It's a shame cause BOB was doing some unprecedented stuff during this playoff run. We lost 2 players, and two others were playing severely injured for this game... Matthew Tkachuk: broken sternum (out) Aaron Ekblad: broken foot, two separated shoulder dislocations, torn oblique muscle; Brandon Montour: torn labrum; Eetu Luostarinen: broken tibia (out); These are some tough dudes. I played football and I couldn't imagine playing with a broken sternum. Matthew played the last 2 game like that, and you could tell something was wrong so he had to sit this one out... I'm still proud of my boys and were ready to make another run next year.

I would say it's more how the players react after outscoring their opponents by a large margin. Less of a celebration by the players, and they might switch to a more defensive mode of hockey to finish the game out during the regular season games. Of course when you are in the finals you never stop putting your foot on the gas.

The commentator;s comment about the Panther's being tired, wasn't about the teams overall preparedness... The Knights had kept pressure up for so long that the players couldn't make a change - the players in a 4 line rotation would normally change off every 90 seconds to 2 minutes of play... Hockey players are sprinters not marathon runners - the on ice players ran out of gas - while the Knights pressed their advantage... Another point, the Panther's post series press conference - where teams come clean about player's actual injuries... 3 players had been playing with broken bones. 1 player broke a LEG!!! in the Boston series and continued playing anyway.... The coach thought that the players injuries would make it difficult for them to make the play offs next year... Florida should be proud of their play off run... As you mentioned they where the lowest point team to make the play offs and were not expected to go deep, with the injuries on top of that...

The unwritten code in hocky boils down to respect the other team, for scoring this means you don't stop trying... but at least in a regular season game, the coach limits the icetime for his top players, relying more on the 3rd and 4th lines, you don't want to embarrass the other team and force them into retaliating physically against your stars, possibly leading to injury.

And rather than have my other comment be insanely long... There isn't an unwritten rule in hockey to not run up the score. The only time you'll see it is when the losing team initiates it. If they feel the lead is insurmountable they will essentially surrender by not pressuring/pursuing the puck. They will basically let the team with the lead hold the puck in their own end and run the clock out. In that situation it would be extremely poor form to still try and score, and I don't think anyone has ever violated that. It typically will never happen outside of 2 minutes left in the game (due to maybe a comeback is possible & respect for the fans) If the team that's behind is still playing, then all bets are off.

Didn’t seem to bother him in game 4 using his arms & stick to choke Pietrangelo in a stranglehold. I also didn’t see ANY difficulties during his press conference after game 5. I think he couldn’t do the handshake. His antics must’ve been dejecting as the rest of the team suffered from REAL INJURIES to make it to the Finals. Hi Boys... during the regular season, there may be a point at which a team leading by a large margin may keep their less talented line out more often so as not to run up the score. HOWEVER... in the Stanley Cup Finals, you can never have enough goals to be safe. The two teams that are playing for the cup did not get there because they suck. You keep your foot on the gas in the finals regardless of the score. Same in the Superbowl... same in the World Series... same in the NBA finals. You don't let up when the result is you can win it all.

So, Vegas wins Stanley Cup, not a Canadian city but in truth it is a Canadian Team as 19 out of 20 players on their roster are Canadian. Florida, 16 out of 20 were Canadian. This is the way it goes, while Canadian teams do not win Stanley Cup, Canadians always do! Look at rosters of all previous cup winning teams, almost all Canadian players. Canadians dominate hockey vs the world.

I’m pretty sure you guys are talking about a “mercy rule” and they don’t do that in professional sports at least not in North America.. and I hope they would never do that because that’s just stupid. I really really hope they don’t do that over there for European football (soccer) ?? that would make it even worse in my eyes. If you get the crap beat out of you, you keep going until it’s over. I’m just glad there hockey players in most other North American sports don’t fall down every single time they are tapped lightly and act like they were shot 10 times dramatically. Because it seems like no matter what league I watch with soccer no matter how good they all do it. They all play that dramatic crap and then get right back up a second later like nothing ever happened. I am confused why that’s allowed to happen in any league. When everybody knows 90% of those are flopping. I wouldn’t even last playing soccer because I would end up snapping because of the dramatic stuff. I played soccer, my whole wife until after high school. Never in any of the games I play, which was a lot until 18 years old. Do I ever remember anybody from any of the teams fake falling to get penalties like they do in Europe.. professional! I’ll shut the hell up now and I’m sure I’ve said this to you guys before anyways. I would love soccer if it wasn’t for the weak penalties every five seconds and the horrible horrible rule when the game is tied at the end. WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY MAKE A TIE GAME GO TO PENALTY KICKS AFTER BOTH TEAMS (for example the last World Cup months ago) YOU DONT GOTO THE BIGGEST TOURNAMENT IN THE WORLD TO WIN THEM ALL UNTIL THE LAST GAME JUST TO HAVE IT GOTO PENALTY KICKS. OK I’ll take caps off from now on because I’m looking insane.. 🤷♂️😆😆 both teams should play until one scores no matter what sport it is. It doesn’t matter if they have to play for 20 hours straight.. they get paid all that money they should be able to tough it out. Not go to you they shoot out! After all that hard work, both teams do. Whole world watching.. just insane to me. NHL would play until there is a winner. Until they have to start eating pizza during intermission because they haven’t played in so long lmao. All right I’m done now. I’m sure you guys won’t even see this. Change a few rules for soccer and then I love it. Just needs to be more physical without all of the dramatic baby stuff. Anytime that happens the player who FLOPPED should be kicked out of the game right away. Guarantee you it would stop all of the baby crap. But it doesn’t seem like anybody wants to stop that over there in Europe because it’s been going on forever and it seems like they love it… honestly me and my hockey buddies laugh seeing that type of stuff. OK I’m going to F off now. 🫡
