Taking the annual Lune Rivers charity steam excursion from Carnforth, this years outing took 35018 'British India Line' to the coast at Scarborough. Starting at a ridiculous hour, our group headed up to the Little North West starting at Capernwray Viaduct where 'BIL' makes its way towards the first pick up at Wennington. Being the first service to traverse the line, the wet rails were taking their toll on the Carnforth flagship and after losing her feet many times, not long passing at Starricks farm, the first stall occurred. Not knowing exactly how long we'd have, we made our way to Clapham where running well over an hour late, the determined crew on the footplate made for fine performance as 35018 romps past on its way to Hellifield. A final shot was made at Hellifield where British India Line powers away towards Skipton and Scarborough.
The return, meant to be double headed with 45562 'Alberta' as a means of positioning the loco back to Carnforth, was met with many a problem and the tour instead returned solo behind 35018 almost two hours late.
