The choreo for Telephone hour is sooooo clever! Wish this would come to Broadway.

Really wish I could see this. BIRDIE isn’t one of my very favorite shows (& it’s very much a period piece, in some respects-not big news, I know), but it’s a well-wrought show that really works, when done well. And this is a marvelous cast! Wishing cast, crew, everyone involved a great time & much success with this.

Liked all but one...that sour male harmony note (or series of notes as he tried to find the pitch) at the end of "Kids". Yeesh. The others were good! Fun-looking production.

This show doesn't really look like it has a lot of heart behind it. I don't remember the actual show but I'm sure it had more scenery and props on stage than this. Also not really too keen on their choice of Conrad. The whole point is that the show is an obvious satire of Elvis and how orgasmic he made the new generation of Americans. But Conrad looks like Little Richard especially with that mustache. I also think it's a waste of Borle's talent. Let's not forget that Albert was written for Dick van Dyke, who had limited singing ability and range. Songs like Put On a Happy Face and Talk To Me are below Borle's standards.

Hard to believe this Birdie is still of draft age. But then this whole cast looks pretty geriatric.

@@njatty This show would actually make for a great NBC live production. I thought they were going to do this as the next live musical, with J Lo as Rosie, but I gusss COVID stopped all future productions.

I saw Chita Rivera and Dick Van Dyke perform the song "Rosie" during the run of her Broadway show A DANCER'S LIFE. Both must have been in their 70s. So lithe and charming, absolutely magical. These two, not so much.
