Fascinating choreography with a lot of emphasis on the arms and legs doing maneuvers close to the body with a lot of side snapping with the head..I really don't know how they do it ! Incredible number, orchestration, and shot composition. A real show stopper

Bobby Rydell, the epitome of the early ‘60s “teen idol,” who parlayed that fame into a starring role opposite Ann-Margret in the 1963 film “Bye Bye Birdie,” died Tuesday April 5, 2022 at age 79. The cause of death was pneumonia. His death just days away from his 80th birthday (April 26, 2022) was confirmed by radio legend Jerry Blavat, Rydell’s longtime friend from the singer’s South Philadelphia stomping grounds. Bobby Rydell had 34 singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100, the most well-remembered of which include “Wild One,” which reached No. 2, and “Volare,” a No. 4 hit. Other top 10 songs included “Swingin’ School,” “The Cha-Cha-Cha.” His run of top 10 songs began with “We Got Love,” which reached No. 6 in 1959, and ended with “Forget Him” in 1964.

I remember when people were boycotting in Washington and all over the place when Elvis Presley got drafted into the army it seems to me bye Bye Birdie was based on the fact that Elvis was drafted and Conrad Birdie played sexy singer and they have the clips of Frank Sinatra in Bye Bye Birdie which it actuality at first he reacting to Elvis like he did in real life initially like that ironically she met Elvis I think a couple of years later and they did Viva Las Vegas together and actually fell in love or had a romantic time. Together I think that is very ironic and Bye Bye Birdie made her famous

@@jerryfreund8368 I tried to find the interview for you, but there are so many that I gave up after listening to four. If I ever find it, I will let you know. I don't think it was a talk show, I think it was a one-on-one interview sitting on a stage. She said that Ann-Margret danced by squeezing her upper arms together to make her chest stick out.

@@user-kj1pq6zh3x Yes, she did. Carrie was being interviewed probably about 6 or 7 years ago in a separate video, and I heard her say it. I may have confused people by the way I worded it."In this" I meant Ann-Margret's dancing in "Bye-bye Birdie", not any comment Carrie made in this video.

@@WoodlandPoetryI saw that interview too. That crack she made about Ann-Margret turned me off, but then she went on to make fun of her mother, too. Bless her heart, she had a sad life. Poor woman.😢

One of the best musical sequences in history. This movie was truly one of the best. The more that time passes, the more I appreciate what it was. Bobby Rydell had some moves, too! They all did!

This scene is one of the greatest ever and will never be touched by any other. Sassy Ann Margret is beyond talented and beautiful, the very definition of a natural plus some. I've never seen IT ALL come so easily for anyone EVER! James Cagney in Yankee Doodle might come close. I'm stunned every time I watch this scene, and the overall movie. Also, Bobby Rydell was no slouch himself, the dude kept up with Ann, had a damn good voice and was also a natural! Jesse (Conrad) also had some natural screen presence, cool and timing to be playing more of an over-hyped oaf. Janet Leigh's table dance was sharp also. Ann's slightly offkey interpretations of a lovesick teen's voice in the opening and closing songs are awesome. Ann could sing lights out! When you watch this movie you are seeing a very authentic star being born and discovered! Someone said the female Elvis, and it's true. Elvis has a one of a kind voice, but Ann had IT ALL!
