I can't lie. The way these shoes were design looks so delicious. Looks like ice cream LOL. I don't think I'll even take those out for a run to ruin them but frame them :-)

They seem pretty impervious to dirt considering the conditions in which you’ve run in them and the white color. Everyone seems to love that blue-it reminds me of those blue snowcones we had as kids. Of course that blue wasn’t a color found in nature but we didn’t know about that-the flavor was basically “sugar”! I’m not sure if the Brooks Pure Grit is still available but I believe it’s one of 2 survivors of the Pure line. It’s very light, may not be as aggressive an outsole but the midsole is probably just EVA and could be more forgiving as a road-to-trail shoe-though it is on the firm side being a trail shoe. It’s also a nice drop-4-6 mm if I remember correctly.

Thanks for your review. Glad to know it holds up. It doesn’t work very well in the mountains where I live, and the color way isn’t for the Rockies, either. The sloppy lockdown is disappointing. Did race it for a 10-miler in the Ozarks and that seemed about right for a pretty road to trail shoe. It is fast, light and fun provided the trail ain’t too long and doesn’t want to kill you.

@@TrailrunnerTroy Hey Troy, quick heads up. Brooks just released two new upper color options in this shoe (black/nightlife) and (grey/nightlife/black).

I love this shoe. Just got in another pair in the white to keep in the box for my next race... at over 210, I feel like I get more spring at a slower speed because I can compression it but when I'm running very slow it is firm.

I have the Brooks Cascadia Trail shoes and I find them to be very heavy of a shoe. I may look to switch to these! I heavy trails down here, but usually they are a mix of surfaces.

DNA Flash in the Hyperion Tempo, I liked a lot for tempo running, but I found it not really versatile, especially at slow place for slow running, so it is a nice foam, but i prefer something more versatile. Nice video, thx!

I really fancy a pair of these. I’ve done nearly 300 miles in the Hyperion Tempo and love them. There’s barely any wear at all and the midsole still really pops at higher pace.

How do you think durability would be in the mountains? Will the midsole get torn up? Could the upper rip?

Anyone have these that also had or try salomons speedcross 5's? I'm weary about people saying they feel firm but i'm wondering if they are more or less firmer than the speedcross 5's for fire dirt road trails and such or if they are more cushiony than my speedcross 5's if so then I think they will be perfect for me or even if they are about the same.

What would you recommend as a crossover shoe? Think I need to replace my Pegasus Trail 36 pretty soon. I’m just looking for a daily trainer for trails. Many thanks!

Peg trail 2 is pretty good on pavement, same with the challenger atr 6.

I think this is a great shoe (I've not ran I this shoe, but I have run in hyperburst which is similar). I think as a crossover this is attractive but not so much for easy days. If I had it my way I'd buy the Challenger ATR 6 like this guy^ for my everyday runs or recovery paces, and then keep something like the Catamount for quicker paces. If you really like firm shoes (think Kinvara or fresh foam tempo) then you'd probably be able to stick with just the Catamount. I hope this helps! Personally if I was looking for just one shoe I'd probably just stick with the Challenger because I don't like going fast on the trails by my house, don't have the balls for that lol I'd be rolling ankles like nobody's business I am a clutz.

Thanks, this is really helpful. I’ve only tried the Clifton 7 on a store treadmill and it wasn’t one of my favourites - would this put me off the Challenger too?

I think it depends on what you thought of your peg trails. if you loved them, then this will feel a bit too stiff underfoot. I would instead look at the Altra superior or the Hoka torrent 2
