Looks like version 2 will be out in July this year. May start getting really good deals on v1 soon!

@@racethenation most likely avoid v2 being peba, far to soft for me.

My observations of the Max are very similar to yours. It is a great do it all shoe that is extremely durable.

I like it when others have the same experience! Thanks for the input!

Your review and descriptions were exactly similar to my experience. Super annoyed with the tongue sliding but somehow it only happens on my left side. The right side stays in place. Very firm initially but now after 100km, it has soften up. Good for v.fast reps day though. I got the black/lime green colorway, way more attractive than your grey/orange version, can't stand it 😂. Tq for the review.

I am so glad someone else experienced that same issue with the tongue, I knew it couldn't be just me! Thanks for the sharing!

tongue slide kills me - have tried so many lacing options to negate this and can't - very annoying but otherwise great shoe@@racethenation

My only problem with the Hyperion Max was the width. It's way too narrow for me, especially in the forefoot.

Ha! That's one of the reasons I liked it, I've got quite narrow feet. But shoe width is one of the most critical parameters for folks, so many thanks for noting that!

I just finished putting similar miles in my Hyperion Max and was looking at the Boston 12 before committing to a second pair. I had a great experience in the Max but some days wanted more cushion but worry about snappy shoes and foot strength. I race trails but train my weekday miles on road. Any thoughts?

I am going to assume you don't really want to buy a pure trail shoe (I've never worn one, so couldn't provide any thoughts on that anyways). I can certainly understand that the Max isn't great on trails, it's too flimsy and as you note, not highly cushioned. I recently did a trail ultra and after a couple different shoes, settled on the Hoka Clifton for the trails. Of all the highly cushioned shoes, I felt that provided the most responsiveness while providing a very stable, reliable landing pad (particularly on the trails). Was a shoe that for me, gave my foot a nice break. Hope that helps!
