Hey I found this video so useful. I have an Areca plant. Its just a year old from a local garden centre. Ive noticed the ends of a lot of them are browning. I have since repotted it into the next size up fresh compost etc etc. I will cut the brown tips off as it is unslightly. I will for sure keep an eye on this and report any other changes. I have subscribed so will come back for other amazing tips and hints x

Yes helpful. 👍👍 logically explained...not just water, don't water, fertilize, don't fertilize but reasons why and if you tried this for a particular time and it doesn't work then try this or if you already been fertilizing then stop fertilizing or if you're already been watering then stop watering and see if you still have brown leaves or not.

This was so helpful! I had a few brown tips on my Zebra Plant. I trimmed them immediately and gathered all my house plants together (7) and place a large pot of boiling water near them. Now onto root rot. How does one check for this? Do you have to pull the plant from the pot? Does this harm the plant?

Hey Anita, really glad you found it useful ☺️ So yes to check for root rot you'll have to (very carefully) take your plant out of the nursery pot so you can physically see the roots. Healthy roots should be full and pale, and unhealthy roots tend to be much darker/shrivelled looking. I've posted some ways you can go about treating root rot in the description of my latest video. Really hope that helps 💚

Is using fertiliser a necessity? Great video!
@TheJungleHaven
2 жыл бұрын
It's not ESSENTIAL, however plants that aren't fertilised at their peak growing times won't produce as much new growth, tend not to be as healthy and vibrant, and are much more prone to disease. It's not going to kill your plants if you don't do it, but I'd highly recommend it 💚

Thanks so much! Should I keep the humidifier close to my Monstera? Also should I cut the brown edges or the entire leaf as it’s just a small portion of the leaf

Im new to the whole taking care of plants thing. I have 3 apple saplings, 2 of them are growing brown bits. The first of the two it’s roots are the color that they are supposed to be, so idk what is the problem. The second of the two, has root rot. The room where I keep them is very humid so I don’t understand the issue. I give them filtered tap water. Fertilizer maybe that’s the issue but I have no clue how to do that. If someone could guide me for the first plant that be very much appreciated.

My Areca palm gets brown tips but also leaves remain green but dry and wilt and some have large black spots / shades on them. Remove and all looks ok for a bit but then same happens. Im removing but wonder why it is?

Palms can be quite prone to this, and in my experience the most common cause is either lack of humidity or a watering imbalance 💚

@@TheJungleHaven Thanks. Think I may have added too much perlite or not firmed down soil enough as having bought a moisture meter it showed dry despite watering. Have a feeling this house plant malarky may end up being an expensive learning curve 😕 Had to remove two more stems today so fingers crossed it recovers or Ill run out of plant!

That can happen unfortunately - the sudden change of environment can send plants into shock. Try to mimic their old conditions as much as you can and ease them into the new environment and fingers crossed they'll bounce back in no time 💚

A lot of these issues happen outdoors too. Not so fun fact. Edit: dilute some natural human or animal urine with distilled water… provides nutes and prevents over nuting from misusing other fertilizers and etc.
