The day after the review I have used Raspberry Pi Pico with ADXL via USB and board was able to process Automatic Input shaper calibration without any issues!

Libre le potato and la frite is a good alternative. The gpio on those boards are rpi compatible. It also supports emmc which is a lot faster than using an sdcard. The only downside is that they do not have wifi builtin but a usb wifi module they sell is only $5. The libre boards are definitely on part, if not faster, than rhe rpi 3b+. Ive been using it for a while on debian and klipper.

The BTT documentation says that the SPI can't be used at the same time for the TFT screen and ADXL - choose one or the other. Best option is probably to use USB for the ADXL.

Maybe try with shorter wires - from main board to Sensor. Usually pure 3V3 or 5V signal wires must not be much over 30cm - sometimes up 50cm might work, but not always. High speed signal wires should always be as short as possible.
@hobbyistnotes
Жыл бұрын
For sure will try shorter cables but I have used this ADX sensor with exact same wires a lot of times with RPi and this idea still won't explain why screen stops working when I enable any of the other SPI "ports", at this point I have burned 3-4 hours playing with env config file and still can't get it working even it's says in documentation that theoretically it should work.

Did you test how wifi performed without the antenna? Curious if the antenna is required or if it just makes it perform better compared to the RPi
@hobbyistnotes

Yes I did and it’s not working without antenna at all, so it’s must have. Weird solution as there is so much empty space for simple trace antenna why it doesn’t have one I don’t know.🤷♂️

cant get adxl to work as well, using the dedicated spi port or via the gpio pins. had success when i connected a pico as a dedicated mcu for adxl.

Those Linux Images are well optimized for RPI specifically but I am pretty confident if you have just a bit of linux knowledge you will be able to run those on BTT Pi as well. At the end it's +- the same ARM linux with similar peripherals.

So, Finally! I have fully integrated BTT TFT35 SPI screen in my workflow, currently using it on my Voron Trident 250mm with BTT Manta M8P v1.1 and CB1 module. Initially when I got the screen and new motherboard I was playing with them on my bench and noticed that screen is very flanky and laggy. Due to time shortage I have abandoned the printer upgrades for a while.... 2 months have passed since then and this week I was working on few upgrades and noticed scrolling thru update logs for CB1 Linux Image that BTT have fixed few things related to TFT screen and after installation it was clear that now screen is working way better. It's still not perfect due to very old and cheap resistive touch technology but it works. I also noticed while placing it in the housing if anything touches the screen(cover, screen protector, etc) it's messing up with touch. I have border cover on the left side of my housing and if I push it too hard I get similar behavior as you.

So I've learned some thing about this board. I wired a 24 line from my printers power supply to this board with a switch to power it on or off independently. This is the same setup i was running with a Pi3, with the only exception being a buck converter to step down the 24v to 5v. WARNING do not do this setup. If the switch is in the on position when powering up the printer, there is no problem. How ever if said switch is in the off position when the printer is powered and you hit the switch to power on the BTT Pi you will blow the power management component. I know this because I have gone through 2 of these boards when I powered them up. Near as i can tell this board does not like the power jump from a fully on power supply. I am currently waiting on a third board, and will be removing the added power switch all together.
@hobbyistnotes

Thank you for the information, I hope it will save someone a board. Not sure if it's fair to mention RPI3 setup in this case as it's can't be directly powered from 24v and requires step down regulator. I would check what is happening with voltage when switch is flipped cus let's say you have button with light inside, in this case the light can behave like an inductor it's just a guess but it will reveal itself with oscilloscope or good multimeter. We have similar situations on drone controllers and usually extra filtering capacitor installed on assembly process to prevent power spikes, ofc it be nice if manufacturer did it for us or at least mentioned such issue in their documentation.
