Nice shed. B4 you start find the ambient temperature of the room to determine how to continue. You said no intake fan but a small exhaust blower is necessary.Put your miner intake side facing northward or away from the E S W side to minimize hot intake off the sun walls. Now the filters will be on the NW N NE side. You have no overhang so you might want to put a pull out {RV} awning over the intake vents. There's plenty more but this is already too long. I know you will do good. RVA.

I would add to your suggestion. I'm in maintenance and deal with PLC systems in warehouse (no ac) Get hvac air filters kinda like K&N filters that will help grab dust and channel air flow through filter with positive pressure. This will reduce dust and places where it may not seal up so well. Intake needs to be sealed well. Only other though is have a water pass through to keep filter from needing changed out all the time. Vosk hit me up if you need a maintenance manager!

Security: What about security? Not hard to break into that shed. Cooling: maybe an additional roof over the whole thing to create a thermal break. The sun beating directly on the roof, without ventilation, the surface will get quite hot. since you removed the vent, you can create a defacto roof vent system by building a separate roof..

Not much as compared to electrical exhaust fans but will definitely help move the air without an extra cost of electric each month. I have 4 on my shed and 4 attic electrical vents as well. You would probably need more ventilation dude to run that amount of miners which will draw 500Amps electricity. Each Bitmain 110T releases 10000BTU and with 500Amps input you can run around 35 miners (500 amps/14amps each miner). So 350000 BTU of heat - you need more air circulation for sure - probably a air pass through design on the larger wall of the shed would work to exhaust out that heat. These are our thoughts as we went through all this in a smaller scale though -Please let us know how it goes and Good Luck. We know you will definitely crack it - Warm Regards, AGI Smartec LLC

600 hundred amps is a lot of solar panels if you want to be self sufficient. I use 5500 watts or about 23 amps and would have to cover my roof front and back to get less than 4 hours per day of power on a good day. Use corn grown on your land to make biodiesel from corn oil and run this in a diesel generator may be cheaper. I have toying around with an idea to mine using a old converted diesel school bus. Plus I get an easy way to move it whenever have the need. ; )

I think you may want to consider a "hot side" plenum that ASICs exhaust into, and then use 2-3 exhaust fans from that plenum to exit the hot air. Given that it's a farm, that heat could be useful in winter for crops. It may be smart to have some simple, solar-powered ceiling exhaust fans.

Congrats that a nice 5-10 ASICS closed shed only in winter, more than that you need to split temp with a physical wall. I will go long not wide use the door to access miners, open garage door to help purge exhaust on hot days, huge intakes with filters and even bigger motorized exhaust, on each opposite walls. However the most expensive part will be your power cable, I mean to get it all the way out there, may be cheaper to move the shed as close as possible to the transformer inlet. good luck !

Super stoked to see where this is heading, you are living the dream! Would love to hear more about your plans for solar integration. You have mentioned that you're planning to use a grid tie system, how does your power company compensate you for solar? I assume that you will be utilizing 100% of the power you will be generating otherwise some companies will pay a higher rate for power generated during peak hours. This could affect how you decide to position your panels. South facing panels will provide more power overall, but positioning them slightly west will give you more power during peak hours. What kind of panels are you looking at? There are used panels currently coming out of California by the pallet load that are a steal of a deal. There are also bifacial panels that produce more power in a smaller form factor. Are you looking into wind power also?

Power is a nightmare with major utility. Even if you are close to major poles. Costs go through the roof, primary or secondary connectivity to a padmount transformer, for the amount you are describing, 600A 240V, you need your utility to buy a padmount transformer and they take up to a year. First they need to justify, then they need to order and leadtimes are crazy for padmount transformers. 7-9 months once they order.

The only comment I'll make is that you shouldn't ever consider pulling air from the bottom. That's where the animals are and you don't want that in your equipment. Pull air from 3 feet off the ground. Pulling air from the soffits will only get you hot air. Personally, I'd want a mini split for heating and cooling.

I would think you would want a roof vent and a window on each side. Because, when it gets hot and humid in the summer time, those miners are gonna heat up. And, with nowhere for the heat to go, it's gonna be like a convection oven in there...great for cooking a turkey. Not so great for frying electronics!!

I think I recall you said you will have 600 amp service installed for mining. How is the power being distributed. You will need to spend on infrastructure for power and network, but much of that may have to do with how many miners you plan on holding in the shed. I think you mentioned you were not going to put in fans? You need fans and you may need a water curtain (aka greenhouse evaporator cooling/evaporative cooling system). Definitely get air filters otherwise, you asics will be full of pollen and dust. Definitely get security and fire prevention measure put in place. My setup has temperature control fans that kick at specific temperatures. In addition I have high flow auxiliary fans (luckily haven't had to use), just in case of extreme hot days. Besides the mining consoles, I monitor both the intake and exhaust temps using a bt temp and humidity meter.

The picture showed a wall going across the width but you talked about wall to wall air flow like setting up for separating by length. If you're going through the work of wiring a shed that size for mining and air flow I would want to separate hot and cold down the length of the building not the width with no concern for parking vehicles. If you depend on the miners for airflow you're going to be dealing with negative pressure on cold and positive pressure on the hot side which makes sealing it a nightmare while also sucking in a shocking amount of dust under that garage door. You're better off with large window sized filtered intake fans on the cold side with enough flow to make the entire building positive pressure keeping dirt out from all cracks and pushing hot air out. it's nice that the roof has insulation as the sun turns anything into an oven. You might consider painting the roof shingles white as well. There is no way I would compromise the integrity of that floor for air intake as the temp difference is negligible.

Dude, you really need to think more about security and fire safety. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. You should have several buildings in case of a fire. The biggest issue you're going to deal with when it comes to solar is voltage drop. So ideally you may want to have six smaller buildings. Spaced out across your property near your solar panels. Then run 100 amps to each building. Keep all your buildings within 300 feet of each other so they can all be connected using CAT6. Then buy yourself a side by side or golf cart so you're not walking everywhere. If you get a golf cart, put a solar panel on the roof, that thing will run forever!

Moving right along I see. You are going to need some kind of exhaust fans to get the heat out especially in the summertime in VA. I know because I lived there in the Coast Guard one summer and it was brutal with no AC. Miners on 240V 3 Phase? Isn't that a bit much? That kind of power is usually reserved for high inrush applications like industrial electric motors. We used 3 phase to power my ship in the Coast Guard. Do you really need that kind of power?

Efficacity, more power density than a single phase, keeping wire size cost down rather than single phase higher Amperage than would need larger wire size then more cost. Single phase, 120/240v now 3ph 240/480/600v, less wattage pulled with higher Voltage equallying small wire for needed kw needed.
