I have to say, this is one of the best versions I've heard, many of the others just don't hit my ears well, but this one feels right!

I’d never heard you sing before Huw. It’s simply beautiful. A mellifluous tone and extremely listenable to.

I'm using a pocket zoom sound recorder, which works well, although because I'm recording the melodeon and vocals at the same time I'm afraid the acoustics of the room let it down. If I recorded my voice and the melodeon separately I'd get a better sound (though still not ideal) but that would be more work and more of a produced sound

Really great cover. one of the best shanty's. The acordion that you use in the video. What is the price of one? Also what type is it? i have started researching acordions so thats why i ask. Thank you.

Hi! What I'm playing is a type of accordion called a melodeon. The particular model I'm playing here is called a Lilliput, which is a vintage model Hohner used to make. This particular melodeon plays in the keys of C and F, which fits my singing range well. My other melodeon is in the keys of D and G, because most English folk music is in these keys. This melodeon cost £300, but it needed retuning which cost another £300. If you want to find out more about the melodeon, and how it's different from other accordions and concertinas, I'd recommend the website melodeon.net. They even have a forum for buying and selling melodeons.
