@@jtcj11 I guess so, I'm in the same positions as you, I can buy any watch I want, and for me the fear is that if I get that Rolex, would I even be that happy about it.

It’s all in what a person thinks they want. I’m a big fan of the Seiko SKX 007. I think it does just about everything I need. Yet I still got a 009 and a box full of other Seikos because it’s fun. Not started flipping yet. I just can’t see spending that much for a Rolex. We are on the same page on that. Like the F150. You can get one from $30k to $70k+. All share the same body, frame, and drivetrain for the most part. The rest is fluff and stuff to break.

Can I say, I didnt knew about the flightmaster before I saw it on TGV's channel. Im n ot a watch collector but boy im happy with my seiko quartz. Ive got a vintage seamaster for dressing up, and use the flightmaster everyday. - as a sidenote I think you got some very good points!

I bought my Datejust 34 years ago for $2,200 more or less(long time ago). My Batman is the second Rolex I've owned it was $9,375 exactly. It hurt , but there is no doubt it is a fine watch, you can wear that watch for the next 40 years no problem. With inflation, with the solid bracelet, with the Rolex service centers, and , yes with the resale value I can sell each of my watches for more then they were bought for. There is something to buying quality . That said, I agree with you many brands going crazy with prices, most that depreciate the minute you walk out the door. Those Omegas Hublots even a lot of Pateks you lose right away. Im sure in a few years the market will change again, but for now Rolex is a safe watch to purchasel.

Great video, man. It’s crazy that prices keep going up. I don’t know how Omega feels like they can jack up prices when most of their pieces can be had for substantially less on the grey market. I’ve decided that my grail, Rolex Explorer 214270 MKII, will have to wait, and I mean really wait. I’ll probably get a burgundy bezel Tudor Black Bay because every time time I try one on, I really like how it looks on my wrist. After that, maybe a pre-owned Spring Drive Grand Seiko because I’d love to own a watch with a Spring Drive movement. I’ll then chill for a while. I try to avoid the $700-$1500 range because, unless I know the watch is a keeper, the money can be set aside for the grail or something in the $2500-$3000. As far as Archie is concerned, the man is nuts. I watch him for entertainment, though. Good points on artificially inflated watches (Murph, etc.).

Thanks for watching. There are a lot of watches I wanted to buy, but I've had to ask myself, "Are they really worth it?" The only 2 watches I'd consider in the $700-$1500 range would be the Seiko Tuna, and the Sinn 104. With those you lose a little money, but not a ton.

Agree completely - though all my watches except one is under $600. I am looking at a Seamaster - an older one, I'm not really a fan of the new wave dial or maybe a SInn. I've tried on some Rolex and they don't really blow me away, the Explorer 1 is really nice but $7000 is too pricey for me.

In my opinion, you appear to get a lot for your money with Sinn

@@jtcj11 Yes, I love all the technology Sinn packs into a watch. It makes it an objectively better value than other watches at the same price point.

Part of the reason Micro is fun these days. Great values to be had. If you jump to the $2500 range in name brand watches, you have some amazing options. Being mad or frustrated could be caused by the fact there is no one watch for us. There is only one way out, find another hobby and stop looking. But that’s just crazy talk, so let’s talk more about the 1000-3000 watch pick for 2019. Haha

I would have to agree with you. Harley Davidson and Rolex probably have the best marketing on the planet. They make you believe that purchasing your product will change your "lifestyle." It obviously works.

What are you getting above 2500.00 for a watch, vastly limited returns.same argument applies to Roadbikes(bicycles)a 1000.00 roadbike is going to have an excellent frame and a more than capable solid component group.a 1500.00 road bike will not refect 500.00 of improvements period.when you get to these financial plateaus the inprovements are finite.

Watches are not a good investment they are wealth storage...Buy a Rolex and sell it for more that what you paid for it and get the enjoyment...better purchase than a car for sure...I do not look at watches as an investment to volatile...right now Rolex is a great watch to own and you can make $ but that will change!!! Absolutely like Real Estate 🏡...just as difficult to time the market...Watches have much less risk...I am always careful about value when I buy watches...been doing it since the 90’s the only mistakes I made...paid $1000 for a TAG in 2001 that is worth about $450 also a Movado I paid $250 for that isn’t even worth $20... Still wear the TAG love that damn watch...gave the Movado to my nephew who loves it...all was not lost...funny I bought 3 Invicta’s in my life...just sitting in a drawer for 15 years...brought them to a pawn shop got $450 for them I about fell over...apparently there is a market for them in Las Vegas...BTW the pawn shop offered me $15 for the Movado..,said they are shit nobody wants them...
