Of course Rydell was a bigger star. Jesse Pearson's career never really took off despite his sexy good looks and nice singing voice. He died at 49 in 1979. He went home to Louisiana with his hood "friend" and died at his mother's house.
@eloiseockert9233

Neither one was great looking. Also Bobby Rydell had a crush on Ann Margaret. She was going to be introduced to the Kennedy's and he lied to her as she wanted her parents with her. He informed her the Kennedy invite was for both of them not her choice to invite her parents. She believed him & too late found out that wasn't true. Also, originally, the part of Conrad was meant for Elvis Presley but he did not want to do the role. Jesse Pearson had guest starred on The Andy Griffith Show.
