Do All Beings Attain Enlightenment? | Monk Minh Tue
A Buddhist follower asked Monk Minh Tue: "Can all beings achieve enlightenment? Or is it an endless cycle of rebirth and extinction, only to begin again?" Monk Minh Tue explained that not all beings reach enlightenment; there exists a distinction between those who attain it and those who do not. He pointed out that some beings, even in the forms of buffaloes, horses, or even animals like dogs and chickens, are still capable of enlightenment.
On the other hand, there are humans who, despite their form, still fall into realms of suffering. Monk Minh Tue emphasized that this world is a mixture of enlightenment and ignorance, an endless existence with no conclusion. He clarified with the Four Propositions: one should not cling to the ideas of "enlightened" or "not enlightened," as both coexist simultaneously. The Buddha has observed beings from time immemorial, witnessing both those who achieve enlightenment and those who lack the conditions to do so. He asserted that this existence has no beginning or end, much like scientists’ explanation of the Big Bang, which, while having a starting point, has no foreseeable conclusion.
