Thanks for doing this video. I'm using 84-87 C4 suspension on a '56 Chevy 3100 pickup. I learned a lot about identifying exactly what I have with the suspension components I purchased, and can't wait to weld in the front crossmember and experience the greatly improved handling and braking.

I am in the planning stages of a project and your video has been very helpful and informative. I would like to use a C4 front and rear in my project, but have been getting some conflicting information hopefully you can straighten out for me. In your video, you say the front of an 84-87 is 59.5” and 88-96 is 61.5”. You don’t say the dimensions for the rear. Another reputable website (Flat Out Engineering) says that an 84-87 is 59.5” but 88-96 is 60.5” They also say the rear of an 84-87 is 61 1/2” and 88-96 is 62 1/2” You both have the same dimension for the 84-87 front but you show wider on the 88-96 front 61 1/2" vs flat out saying 60 1/2" I have always been told the difference between the front and rears between 84-87 and 88-96 was 1” wider, but you are showing 2” on the front vs flat out engineering showing 1” on the front. Just trying to get the right info before possibly buying anything. Could you possibly list a chart with all the dimensions? Thank You for your help

If you're interested in buying a Corvette and upgrading from the spring to coilovers look to get the 89 -96. There are aftermarket products available. The 84-88 lack the space for the coil on the upper mount and as far as I know there hasn't been anything designed for them aftermarket. If you are using the suspension on other vehicles, the customization allows for coilovers on either.

Yes. It isn't the horsepower that breaks things, it's the torque, and it'll be made worse by sticky tyres.

In the video you said the suspension is 59 1/2 on early and 611/2 on later model but I always thought the front suspension is 59 1/2 on early 60 1/2 on later and for the rear 60 1/2 early and 61 /12 for later . you also mention that, the extension of the rear was done replacing the knuckle. The knuckle are dffrentt due to the abs and the diameter of the stub shaft, that's true.My understanding is that it was done using a longer stub shaft in the knuckle and a thicker brake caliper bracket.

88 is slightly different than both the 89 and 87. When ordering suspension parts for an 88, you can only use 88 parts for it.

I have a 1986 Corvette bought a 1985 for the Dana 44.putting 373 gears in it..they all are the same strength.sometimes whoever installs gears might have to shave a little inside the differential to install the 373 gears but the difference from a 1985 to 1996 are the same Dana 44.i plan on changing the half shafts to a newer Corvette slightly thicker.but if anything most likely with big horsepower the prob would be the half shafts.im running 600 HP on a 383 stroker motor

..when changing to a coil over setup from the leaf spring.....you're now asking the upper shock mount bracket to support the weight of the car..does that have to be reinforced somehow? just wondering. I currently have a saturn sky redline but if i ever find a 96 grand sport with mileage that's at a reasonable price i may have to get one.😍😍

I need some help. I have an '84. I'm building a motor for it. Pretty much I want to run an 85 style motor in my 84. What are the wiring harness differences between 84 and 85? I'm going to try and run an 85 ecu is why I ask.
@JDeubel
Жыл бұрын
I believe those cars are a chip system with a very simple ECU if you're going to do that and you have your heart set on an 85 motor you mine has a logo with a LT1 motor or a LS motor you'll have a bigger bang for your buck especially when it comes to drivability and horsepower stainless wire and Holly might have something for you

dont bother, everything will be different. Just get any 350 with a standalone computer or even a carb. Corvette engine are very good and optimized for their specific hp rating but they are very limitative for even marginal improvements.
