FYI granaries can also be used as intersections for roads! I just remembered that if you use them that way they would also be able to feed multiple neighborhoods at once, such as two different 9x9 block neighborhoods. That fixes any labor problems depending on the layout of your city. REMEMBER that you need to actually have at least a single 'piece' of road on the other side of the granary for this to word

Haha looking back at it, I have no idea. Sometimes building placement will affect where the walkers go. I guess that position somehow made the market lady walk around the block enough times. I don't make it like that in future missions, I at least use gatehouses to control walkers, and still often 2 markets.

This is still early in the game but I remember towards the end (3rd or 2nd to last mission) I struggled big time with the requirements needed to finish the objectives. Of course this was back in the late 1990s/early 2000s when I was only about 12 years old so I didn't know much about city building. Hell it took me ages to get those rich guys into my city. Never got the highest house (a palace I believe). This was a memory trip. Feeling a little nostalgia.

Gatehouses are available on peaceful missions too. Markets and food is always tough. Warehouse goods can be set to 'getting' and they don't need roads connecting so it's easy to manage. You can turn off using a certain good from the trade adviser though. That way you can stockpile a lot before you start using it.

I honestly couldn't tell what you were doing because you fast-forwarded too many times here. I have some Basic Gameplay Questions, trying to find answers for the Caesar game to walk someone slowly through evolving houses, the way the Zeus game has a dozen tutorial levels devoted to carefully teaching you each step. Question 1: After you place a Well/Fountain (Water System), the next thing a block absolutely needs is Security. And, technically, if you leave it just like that (plus maybe a Doctor), it should be able to exist indefinitely as stable Poor Houses/Tents? Correct? Question 2: How far evolved do Tent Slums get with just the addition of a Farm, Granary, and Market? And, How many Markets should you use and where should place them if you are trying to efficiently chain 9x9 Tent Slums? Question 3: After watching a few of your videos, it seems that out of habit you tend to lay down 5 temples evenly between the gods, partly because the beginning of a level starts with a large pile of money, and partly because at least some of the gods really affect your city if you neglect them. Which Ratings Flag, do the gods affect? If you are playing Peaceful missions, can you safely neglect Mars? If you plan to run all your industries in-house without Trade, can you neglect Neptune? What Mercury affect? It seems like the Military levels, and the Higher difficulties, it's much more important to place gods early-- but if you're playing on Easier difficulty in only Peaceful missions, can you make do with fewer than 5 gods, because space on the outside of a 9x9 block is at a premium for placing large buildings after a while? Question 4: Which do you think is more important: Starting an Industry of either Pottery or Furniture for Trade if the level allows Trade, or adding Entertainment and Education? Question 5: What is your order of priorities for: School, Library, Actor Colony, Lion Pit, Gladiator School, Theater? Is judging by price a good enough shortcut? Is the Gladiator School needed to support the Lion Pit? Is the Actor Colony needed to support the Theater? I can't quite figure out which ones to place first yet. Obviously the Colosseum, Academies, and Hospitals are placed later, if at all. Question 6: When do you normally place Baths and Barbers? Are Barbers the last building needed to evolve before Wine?
@GamerZakh
6 жыл бұрын
You might find my new playthrough more useful, there are no video cuts in that series besides the one here and there. The other video you commented on is the new series, which you can check out here: kzitem.info/door/PLYVqUDxY6COh1bGEO_-gc-cD8FQTrSuxb But did you watch the tips and tricks video I sent to you on your other comment? - kzitem.info/news/bejne/1XusmGibg2ujpHo As for your questions, 1: A block would need a prefecture and engineers post before water actually, as water won't stop fires or building collapses. But yes, once a tent block has a prefecture and engineers post, it should be fine forever, except if your overall city's health drops too low, which a doctor will help with that. Question 2: I'm not sure I understand this question? If you're making tent slums, you don't need to give them food. If you're evolving houses, how many of things really depends on the distance of things. If the farms are further from the granary, you might need more farms. If your warehouses are further from the market, you might need a second market. Everything is very situational and although you could math a 'perfect' setup, it would require counting how many road tiles, how many units of resources being produced, how many people are being fed, and so many other things it's impractical unless you're already a master of the game and know all the hidden mechanics. Question 3: The gods in C3 are jealous gods. If a god has more temples than the others, the others get upset much quicker, so you want to keep number of temples even to avoid curses. Having temples increases your Culture rating. Peaceful missions often have a little bit of military anyway after the first few missions, so neglecting Mars will trigger invasions even on Peaceful missions. If you don't have any fishing boats or sea trade, you can neglect Nepture yes. But his blessing if he's happy increases all trade, even land trade, so he's useful on all maps really. Mercury is about production and resourses. If he's unhappy he'll burn your warehouses and granaries. So yes, with god effects on it's rare that you can ignore any god. If any, ignore nepture if you don't have anything on the water. Question 4: Trade is 100% more important than anything else. It's your only source of money until you get taxes from high level housing, so it should be number 1 priority from the start. Question 5: Priority for services you just follow what the houses need. Right click a house and it will tell you what it needs to evolve next. If it's not asking for it, you don't have to build it, and even if it is asking for it you don't need to evolve houses all the time. Oftentimes it's better to not evolve houses because evolving will increase population, which could wreck your food supply as they start eating more. Question 6: Place them when you want to evolve houses that are asking for them. That's it.
@darthparallax5207
6 жыл бұрын
Question 2 Follow Up: What I meant was simply: Assuming you have Security and Water, how many Housing Levels does Food add? 1? more than 1? it is hard to distinguish different yellow straw-thatched roofs. In Zeus, I believe the order of Housing was "Hut, Shack, Hovel" for "Maintenance, Food, Water+1Culture" for poor housing. In other words, only adding Food without Culture would only be worth 1 Housing level. Going bare bones minimum just raising 1 house up slowly, how many housing levels is Food worth? doing it with literally 1 house isn't something I know how to experiment because you need more employees for all the buildings needed to supply food--- and unlike Zeus, these houses merge together, which is also weird. Question 3 and 4 Follow Up: I can see that the gods you described are more important than I was giving them credit for initially. Mercury in particular didn't seem to be affecting my first cities, I think because I have been in general struggling with Industry and Warehouses. He didn't need to curse me, lol, my bad management is curse enough! But! Even fumbling I did already notice just how very quickly Ceres is important, and I think everyone can agree that she is the most important god. A god in Zeus that I don't remember ever having any trouble with for any reason was Aphrodite. I assume that Venus works over the same domains, appeal/beautification and immigration/emigration? You say all the gods' curses are bad, but I want to double check to make sure I'm not missing anything: Which level did you find Venus was most important? I am watching more of your videos and plan to watch all your videos and reply to all of your replies--- on one particular level, there seems to be a glitch about immigration forcing you to build a 'well maze', which sounds serious-- on a tamer level, isn't emigration one of the biggest signs in the whole series of games that the level is simply going badly? I mean, besides rioting? Watchposts were rarely helpful in Zeus for dealing with Crime, because if you even had Crime it was an indicator you might want to consider starting the level over. I am going to spend a lot more care after Mercury, Neptune and Trade thanks to your helpful comment highlighting how important income is even if you aren't evolving houses, but it is still difficult for me to see Venus as equally important to them. I understand the ''jealousy'' mechanic which causes your favor with them all to go up and down if you're unbalanced, but as the whole concept of the game is resource allocations, prioritizations, and risks, it would help to have a suggested ranking for the importance of Venus, and particularly if you have any notable bad experiences undervaluing her I want to hear about them. My current valuation of the gods after considering your reply is: 1. Ceres 2. Mercury 3. Neptune 4. Venus and 5. Mars, and the only reason I put Mars last is because I see the difference between Military and Peaceful as at least the difference of a whole Difficulty level-- in other words, I can learn more about the game and get better quicker if I just assume it's always Peaceful, and resign myself to the fact that until I'm really good at Peaceful activities I will at least always lose to Military reason, but I hope to have the levels run for a good long time before I'm completely destroyed. Given that the game will almost certainly give some amount of time for you to build on any level before throwing attacks at you, it seems like you have the most time to build Mars before he becomes an urgent priority? This news about Mercury attacking *granaries* however is extremely valuable! Question 5 Follow Up: In Zeus, I *know* which buildings need which buildings in which order-- the Podiums won't even do anything useful at all unless you have a College already, and the Theater in Zeus doesn't do anything unless you have a Drama School first. Education: The different levels of Schooling in Caesar--- do they work like Colleges and Podiums do in Zeus? Do you need a School for a Library to work? Do you need a Library for an Academy to work? Or can an Academy count as a School on its own? Drama: The Theater in Caesar is much smaller than the Theater in Zeus, so I would assume it's like a Drama School? Does the Actor Colony come before the Theater or the Theater before the Actor Colony? Athletics: Are Lion Pits and Gladiator Schools independent? Because of its large size and the fact that it requires, I think, both Lion Pits and Gladiator Schools, and if I remember correctly, even Amphitheaters as well, the Colosseum is obviously the Caesar version of the Stadium and it's best to just remember it as coming after everything else. General: Which Caesar III Culture/Entertainment buildings are most like the Gymnasium and Drama School-- that is, independently self-run so that you can use them if you like as the first basic building to use for the first time a House asks for any Entertainment at all? They don't ask for specific Entertainments in specific orders, but is there an order you like more than others? Are they -all- Independent except for the Colosseum? I would assume that the smaller 2x2 Theater would naturally come before the 3x3 Actor Colony, but Culture is confusing. I'm double and triple reading the ''Housing Levels'' page on ZeusHeaven to try to ask this question in the best possible form, and I think the expert terminology I'm trying to get at is-- ''Which Culture buildings in Caesar -produce- -walkers-?" I think it is because there are fewer Housing Levels in Zeus-- only 7 Common Housing Levels and 4 Elite Housing Levels-- and the Common and Elite Housing are separated as well-- that makes memorizing Housing Needs much harder in Caesar. I think even if you added Common to Elite Housing Levels, Caesar Housing has more than 11 Levels. It was much simpler in Zeus to memorize: Food, Water, Culture, Fleece, Culture, Olive Oil, Culture-- simply add another Culture for each Good, and no fancy services like Baths and Barbers to worry about. Also Zeus had only Fleece where Caesar has both Pottery and Furniture to keep track of. It is a lot more challenging to keep track of a more advanced civilization! Question 7: If it's too much to ask to go line by line trying to explain all the Housing Levels, could you simply help me find just the Number of Housing Levels that there Are in Caesar instead, and I'll figure out the rest by following your other comments and videos?
@GamerZakh
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah Zeus is a much simpler game. I actually consider Zeus to be the easiest of the 4 games in the series. Okay, you wrote a lot so I might miss something but: - Food evolves houses 1 step. Everything the house asks for evolves them 1 step. - Venus blessing isn't too great, lifts the mood of your city, but her curse is actually the worst one. She plagues your city, killing people and destroying houses. That wrecks your employment, it's expensive rebuilding houses, and all the resources in the houses are lost. It's impossible to maintain a city with Venus angry. - Theatres produce walkers without any other building but I think that's a glitch. It's supposed to need an actor colony, but you can use an actor colony for destination walker as I demonstrate in my tips video. - When houses ask for education they can accept any, school, library, or academy, as far as I know. You can build all 3 at any time no requirements, but schools and libraries are just more efficient depending on your city. Academies are usually saved for luxury housing. - You'll learn about all the housing levels as you go along, just click them and see what they ask for and give it to them. Only important note is providing wine. Once you provide wine the houses become luxury housing and people who live in luxury houses don't work, so it might wreck your employment if you're not careful. Generally, you should just test most of these questions in game. It would take 20,000 - 30,000 words to explain everything to you beforehand.

Thank You! I figured it would be helpful to have the questions asked and answered on your video for anyone who might have them. So Venus Temples are probably as important as Doctor's Offices! My last question that I suppose I will be experimenting for the answer to is to find out whether a single Academy can provide all the Education a Housing Block will ever ask for without actually using any Schools or Libraries.

Momar Mbow - Oh, you mean to build the bigger temples that are like big versions of the small ones? You need to have some marble in your warehouses to build those.

It's so that the walkers can't walk through. This way, they walk around the whole housing block every time they spawn, making the city way more stable.
