Sorry for the delayed upload this week. As you can see, we escaped the city for a few days and enjoyed our time in nature with some good friends. And, of course, we ate well! Have a great week! 💕

I love camping! When we were young, we lived in Colorado! Family, friends and animals all loved everything about camping. Every adult would sit around the fire and take turns cooking right on it. We loved river coffee, just a name for cooking the grounds in the water. We all became experts at river coffee. 😆🤣😂 Brings back so many good memories (1973-1977). Thank you for renewing my memories ❤♥!

For 25 years tent camped in the UP of Michigan and WI north woods, would spend two weeks there, that was my drug, loved it there. Fishing camping and exploring the various counties within 15 miles. When you talk about a lot of work....2 days to get tent, cook tent and all tarps set. God it was and is so beautiful. Enjoy.

Hi Flo- happy that you’re spending time with Mother Earth! Getting out of the house and into nature sounds great! Of course the food looks amazing. I’m sure it tastes amazing also. I always have my “camping recipes” too. Simple. Good. That skottle (spelling) is pretty cool! Btw: you look really, really great with the short hair cut! Darling on you. Your hair now is pretty too. God Bless the Lum’s! Enjoy your camping trip!

Flo and Dude, it was fun to watch! My family has never gone camping and probably never will, so I watched to see how it’s done and what I’m missing out on. I like how Dude zoomed in on the Costco salad and you explained what a nice shortcut that was to bring. And the comment about the wok lid was helpful to know you don’t have to buy the expensive version if you already have something at home. Unless I missed it, you should have shared where you went camping. It looked beautiful! I like all your videos! Thank you. God bless!

Great video. Too many people are scared away from camping and sometimes it is due to cooking. Don't be scared ... just replicate what you do at home. It's quite easy. We often raid the salad bar at grocery stores for individual ingredients. The cost per pound of items is cheaper than canned versions, and they often come with seal-able containers. Also, when making pancakes with blueberries, blackberries, etc, sprinkle on some ground up graham crackers and they taste like cobblers!

First, I like your haircut Flo. You guys work well together and these camp meals look so good. In California we would find most of our food in the mountains. Fishing for trout, deer hunting, duck hunting, herbs & mushrooms in the forest. Cooking on a campfire is so comforting. Nice recipes Flo.

We used to camp a lot. I always insisted on good meals. It's amazing what you can do with a 2 burner Coleman stove and the campfire! A lot comes down to having spices, and knowing the timing.

Wish we were able to have a fire as I love cooking with it when camping, but we have a fire ban all summer long (although propane fire pit is allowed, just not the same). So sad to see so much of our province currently up in flames. 😥

Lovely campsite! We camp a LOT. And although I’m always ok with a good hot dog with fixins, I love trying out new things. I have a flat top griddle for camp use-and a little 2-burner stove. Never heard of a skottle before-pretty cool! Where were you camping, by the way? Lovely waterfront site!
@FloLum

The waterfront site is the best! That is Porteau Cove. The only downside is the train track across the street where a train comes by at least once or twice a night but the view is SO worth it!

The best camping trip dinner I ever fixed was Chili Verde. I pre-prepared the tomatillos and onions at home the night before the trip. Then I discovered that a plastic strainer resting on a non-stick fry-pan is unstable, which led me to discover that cooked-down onions and tomatillos are *wonderful* as a floor wax stripper!! hehe Ooops. At midnight, of the two closest markets to me at the time, one was 100% out of tomatillos. Luckily the next-closest had enough for me to make a second batch. I finished washing the floor and prepping the sauce for the chili at about 2:00am, with a "you need to hit the road" time of 8:00am. I don't do all that well on 5 hours of sleep, so the 300 mile drive was a slog. This was a (US) Thanksgiving camping trip to Morro Bay, which was a family-and-friends tradition for about 20 years. My "job" was the Saturday evening dinner. (Thursday was, of course, turkey and all the fixin's and Friday was sandwiches from the left-overs from Thursday -- Keep It Simple on Friday.) Saturday rolled around and all I had to do was roast the pork (and partially shred it), stir it in the tomatillo/onion sauce I'd fixed Tuesday night at home, and warm up the tortillas (not up to Ella's, I'm sure, but we were camping), and slice up the add-ons. Dinner under a rain fly, needed since it was a downpour that year (ever dump the edge of a rainfly down the back of your neck?? haha), with a fire brightening the mood from the stone firepit in our campsite. (Nothing like sipping brandied coffee on a rainy camping day while sitting in a sling chair with a good book! With a shout out to Leon's Used Books in San Luis Obispo.) Anyhow, wrapping the Chili Verde into flour tortillas with a side of salad was *perfect* on a camping trip in the rain. All that came back to me as I watched your meals come to life.

That Scottie ? You used looks perfect for your cooking style, camping or not. Is it funny using? Did you have for me Chinese food in that big wide dish/wok? A bit pricey, but I guess if you don’t have a “green egg“ this is much more affordable for camping. I’m glad that you all had time to go out and have fun did you get all four of you? And board the cats?dogs?
