If you walk away from your embroidery machine and leave it to stitch, you may be too far away to keep an eye on your machine! I stay in the same room as my machines so I can hear them running. Why? because if you listen closely you may hear a problem before it does damage to your machine. You can hear when your machine is struggling to get through something...that's when I would stop the machine and make sure that nothing gets broken. If the design is too dense, then stop stitching that design!!
It is a big deal when you break a needle. It should not happen often! I see time and time again that people have a checklist of what to do when your needle breaks, but they always forget one thing - THE THREAD. Lots of times, the thread can be the culprit for machine problems. Make sure the thread and the thread spool is always a part of your troubleshooting list.
