I think you should consider swapping your stock tank for a rally raid tank. That would give you lower center of gravity, which should translate into an even easier bike to flick around. Possible you could also drop the crash bars, saving weight. I don't know if the rally raid tank is like the orange Austrian bikes, where the lower part of the tank act as crash bar but I think it does.

@@BrakeMagazine sorry not living in her majesty's or yehaaw unit areas 35 UK mpg that is about 8 L/100km ... is that about right? Does this mean that the average fuel consumption nearly doubled? Or does this only apply when (ab)using it hard offroad? If it would be the general average, it would mean, that the bike would have only about 200km fuel range, which would be pretty harsh for travel ;)
@gr.b.u.m

@@MathiasKarlssonErik well since the bike consumes an avg between 4.4 and 5.5 l/100km, depending on how and where you ride it, that means there's an increase of about 50-60%. It should be less when on-road, because you can use higher gears and not stress the engine as much. You also have more air in the tyres. I think it's ok, if you don't wanna have it properly tunned. I would love to hear your thoughts on a 20-25mm lowering of the T7 along with a seat concepts 20-25mm lower seat. There are videos out there about lowering the T7 but they don't have your riding credentials. At 5'4", I can't touch the ground on a T7 off the shelf. Can the T7 be a really good adv bike when lowered an inch?
@BrakeMagazine
7 ай бұрын
Absolutely. As long at the balance of the bike is good front to rear it should be fine. I think realistically the best ADV bike is the one you're comfortable riding and a lowered T7 is probably a good shout. As height it a worry for you, I'd also consider two other things. One, talk to a proper suspension shop in your country about getting the suspension lowered internally so the forks can match the shock. Big improvement. Secondly, the T7 is a wonderful bike. It is slightly top heavy. This will be better when lower, but I would also consider the Aprilia and the KTM 890. They will be equally good, if not better off road and have lower centre's of gravity and feel more planted. The T& has a very nice low power for off-road, but so does the Aprilia. Either way, you have some great options there and suspension shop will 100% be the best place to advise on the options.

Love this series. I've been swaying towards getting a tenere 700 over a cb500x. Mostly because they are near the same weight but the Tenere is setup with more power and to be so much more offroad capable. I want to do some moto-camping trips and some reasonable off-roading. I also can't find a new CB500X anywhere within my region so that might make the decision for me right there. CB500x gets better fuel economy and range but has less power and needs some decent mods to get it to where the Tenere 700 is off road.

Mmm, I don't agree. It's better at somethings and worse at others. This is easier to ride in a trials way.

I've had both as well, the T7 is better in some areas, the 690/701 is better at others. I agree with Brake, the T7 is better at slow technical stuff. The 690 is better at open field full smash type stuff.

@@MeerkatADV Interesting. I would not have expected that. (I'm a 701 owner). Thanks for the insight.

Having ridden the T7 and the AT I believe the real Adv bike that dirt performs and can do enormous highway kms or mile is the Africa Twin ADV sports. It's by far the GOTO bike for agility, amazing power, comfort and in all honest a beast of a sound but quiet on the gighway. All mid size bike lake power on the open road.

You mean, all the mid sized bikes with the same power figures as the AT?
