I have only seen it in pictures from a distance, so that was very interesting, I couldn't do the walk! I wonder if he was able to walk back to Marazion or, needed a boat.

Looks amazing. We didn't have time to go there when we were in the area and now my wheelchair wouldn't get up there, so it's nice to have a look at it.

You can buy tickets at the gate (online only though, if I remember rightly), so it’s no big deal if you haven’t bought one in advance.

There is a rack and pinion narrow gauge railway inside a tunnel from the quay to inside the castle, which is used for moving food and supplies up to the East wing of the castle where the family lives. kzitem.info/news/bejne/x5-ZnK2ppZWVoo4

Cornish people may help me. How do you pronounce Marazion? (Not Morazion, as it was spelt at the beginning of the video.) I've even heard the pronunciation 'Market Jew', because it had a market on a Thursday! 'Jew' is like the Cornish for Thursday. At the top of the Castle the Union Jack was flying, but when he first entered the Castle St Piran's Cross, the flag of Cornwall, was flying.

You are correct ' Marazion' not Morazion. It is pronounced 'Marazion' there may be a few slight differences depending where you are from and if the dialect leans heavier of different syllables.

The name Marazion means Market Jew ! It is one of the Oldest market towns in Britain . Trading in Tin and Copper for over 4,ooo years .to the Med and the Holy Land . Check out a documentry called " Light in the West " the lost years of Jesus and Joseph of Aramathia , and the first Christian Church started at "Innes Wittering " or Glastonbury in 80 AD not 396 AD as the Roman Empire would have you believe ! Cheers

It's got nothing to do with the Holy Land. Jew is the Cornish word for Thursday. It means 'Thursday Market'

@@Shoomer1988 Hi . Just a couple of points to make on this line of thought ! 1) Thursday in Cornish is Yow not Jew . There was 2 Markets ,one large , one small ! 2) Marazion was given its Charter by Henry the 3rd in 1257 ! Evidence in this area of trade in Tin go way before that ! The day Thursday was not around ( The Calender system we use was brought in by the Romans ) 3) The Tin trade in Cornwall is at least 2000 BC ! Cornish language can be lost in translation in English ! I think the word "Zion " in the name is a bit of a give away for a connection to the Holy Land ! Also a Jewish grave yard and Synagogue in Penzance is more evidence ! Penzance means "Holy Headland " cheers

@@ghichens3418It comes from Marghasyewe which came from an early word Marhasyow meaning Thursday Market. Yow beaacme yewe became yew and became jew - it still means Thursday. The word became corrupted to English to Marazion - it has nothing to do with Zion or Jews. Never did, never will. Not sure how many markets it had is relevant. Trading in tin is evidence of nothing. People all over the world traded in all sorts of things. Cornish tin was sent to lots of places. The day Thursday was around before the Romans, yes they changed the calendar - several times, but days still had a name before they turned up. Thursday comes from the old Norse God Thoren - the Romans just borrowed it. In later charters it was noted as Marketjew which is from the Roman words Forum Jovis - Jovis comes from the God Jove who was basically the same guy as Thoren. And they named Thursday after him. Forum Jovis = Market (or meeting) Thursday. There are Jewish grave yards and Synagogues all over the country - I have both near me and my town is named after a river. Even the Cornish tourist board says it means Thursday Market, and that ascribing it to Jews is wrong.

@@Shoomer1988 Well I dont Agree with you on lots of points . We will have to leave it at that . And I dont care what the Cornish Tourist board say . 98 % of Ancient Bronze has Cornish Tin in the mix ! The Romans called Britain the Tin Islands !! cheers

@@ghichens3418 It was the Greeks that called Britain the tin islands not the Romans. And as for "98 % of Ancient Bronze has Cornish Tin in the mix" apart from it not even close to being true, even if it was, how does that prove anything?
