Hi Angela, thanks for this review! I just got my Canon M50 last month (late to the party, I know). I'm a beginner photographer as the last camera I bought was a Canon G11 twelve years ago. I still have just the 15-45mm kit lens, adding the 55-200 to my list now because I'd love to take awesome landscape photos like the samples you showed in this video. It's going to be a huge learning curve for me at this point. Wish me luck!

I love my ef-m 22mm lens as an all-purpose. I don’t have that much experience with night photography. BUT the ef 50mm with a speed-booster Mount has an aperture of 1.2, the lower the aperture the more light you can let in… so I think that would be a good set up to look in to!

One point of minor criticism. When you show how the lens zooms do not hold the zoom ring and turn the lens body. Do it the same way as if the lens is mounted on the camera body. I want to see what the front element does when zooming and the way it is done in this video makes this quite difficult. In the past there were zooms that rotated the barrel when zooming, terrible if one uses a polarizing filter.

Great review. Wish Canon would make a longer focal length lens for the EF-M mount like maybe 100-400mm or 150-600mm. 55-200mm is kind of a weird middle ground mostly covered by the 18-150mm. I was looking at buying the 55-200mm lens - but I already have the EF-M 18-150mm. On balance don't think it is worth it for the 50mm and think 18-150mm will be a better choice for most users.
@RyKingUploads

I know you said ef-m, but the ef with the adapter works well for me and is affordable. I picked up a new 75-300mm with the adapter for the m50 and a couple lens filters for $200 on Amazon
@TDubya811
3 жыл бұрын
@@RyKingUploads I did buy a Tamron 70 to 300mm with victron EF to EF-M adapter. Works OK, but I feel like a native lens would be more optimal from image quality, autofocus speed, stabilisation as well as size and weight concerns: Canon m50 body = 387g Canon m6mkii body = 408g Tamron 70 -300mm with victron EF to EFM mount = 765g. Due to its size and weight I tend not use use it on many hikes. And it looks ridiculous attached to and M series body and is unwieldy for use around town. As the say the best camera is the one you have with you and M series is a pleasure to carry all day compared to a DLSR. I'd def buy a native 150-600 for the M series if/when Canon release it. BTW Generally have found long focal length is not great for scenery/timelapse as atmospheric haze and heat distortion severly reduce image quality. Best use is for wildlife, candid street shots etc.

I bought this lens and took some video these days, but I'm disappointed in some points. First one is in full length of 200 mm it's unclear in resolution. Very vague and blurred. Another one is the noise when I zoom in around 150 mm(roughly) which is not tolerable. (But sometimes it's calm😰😰) Anyway I want to resell this one and I'd like to buy 18-150 mm. I should send this to cannon but I wanna hear your good opinion first. Thank you~~!

hey, just came across your channel cuz Im looking at getting this lens. Im on the fence with this one because its only 200mm. 6:01 I just came across this lens... Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS II USM Lens. Youd need an adaptor because its an EF mount, and because the M50 is APS-C (1.6 crop) the 300mm focal length turns into 480mm!! So thats pretty awesome! Personally, the EF 70-300mm would be a better deal (my opinion) and its going for only $550-ish USD.

As a M50 user, what ur opinion about brand new eos r50? Is it worth to switch?
@AngelaZuniga
Жыл бұрын
I feel like if you are going to upgrade from the m50 you may as well go for a full frame camera rather than another aps-c. Especially since switching from the m50 to the r50 also means needing to buy new lenses since the mount is different… But with that being said if you wanted to upgrade to the R50 in order to start building your RF lenses without pulling the trigger on an expensive full-frame RF camera just yet I can see the appeal in that. Also, having less limitations with 4k recording would also be something I would consider as a plus for the r50. So i think if you want to do more 4k video and start building up for lens kit with RF lenses without dropping a bunch of money just yet on a big R camera then I would probably make the switch. But if you are taking photos and not really shooting too often in 4k video, then I feel like I would just stick to the M50 until deciding to upgrade later 🤔

Oh, and yea questions. I am thinking about geting some ef-m lenses for my Eos M. But I wander is it better to get 22mm prime lens or 11-22mm lens? The thing is I would use it for the wide shots. In the films I mean, I know it is not too filmic, but you shoot with what you have.
@AngelaZuniga
3 жыл бұрын
I have my eye on the 11-22mm too I think overall it would would well for a wide angle vlogging lens if that’s what you mean. The only thing is the aperture at 22mm for the 11-22 is 5.6, and compared to the 2.0 aperture of efm 22mm it won’t offer as much blur on your background or allow you to get good film with low light.
@ivo.lipanovic
3 жыл бұрын
@@AngelaZuniga I'm thinking of a making short film, not vlogging so I think I will skip wide. I did some research in the meantime.I think I should maybe go turn Sigma as those look much better than Canons. I did this 4 years ago with Eos-M (magic lantern), EF-M 18-55mm kit lens and Some Helios analog lens kzitem.info/news/bejne/xpytk46Yb5dlmaA. I always wonder why manufacturers make and sell camera kits with 2 lenses where the focal length does not overlap. I always found situations where the short lens is too short, change to the longer one and find it is too long even at its shortest setting. That is why I went for the 18-150mm and 11-22mm. For longer lenses I would go for adapter and EF mount lens.
