THIS DEFINITELY IS ONE TO WIKIPEDIA 1ST. To See HOW MANY ALBUMS THAT HE PLATED ON IN LESS THAN ONE DECADE Hello. I am old and have Zero Idea how to do Instagram, or your other site. 1 person that you have Never played was My 1st guitar hero of the mid 1970s. His name was TOMMY BOLIN. He, sadly, passed away in December of 1976 of a drug overdose. I was 17 and his death Crushed My World for quite a While. I would LOVE to see/watch your reaction to "Dreamer" Studio version off of the Album "Teaser". Also, MY Favorite Tommy Bolin song is "Wild Dogs" also off of his 1st solo album, "Teaser". Also, a Great jamm song off of his 2nd solo Album, ''Private Eyes'', is the track titled "Post Toastee". Everyone gets to Show Off a Bit On "Post Toastee". IF you love songs with Great Dynamics from slow, sparse, beautiful and melodic to- Boom, rocking out in a flash, and then BOOM- right back to soft and mellow, then "Dreamer" is for you. I would recommend the regular studio audio of all. Thank you. I Love watching your Reactions! When you read it, just Look at ALL he did in a Very Short Time. More than a Lot of Artists/Bands do in their entire Career... @Jamel_AKA_Jamal : Does That Make You Even a Little Intrigued??

Hello Jamal , I have never commented on anything before but just have to now since I have a very sad but sweet connection to Captain and Tennille through my little brother. My brother fell in love with them when he was about 9 and taught himself the keyboards starting with an accordion given to him. He graduated to a piano and synthesizers and had a beautiful voice, and it turns out that he was gifted with a wonderful ear, could play anything after hearing it , sometimes just once. I took him to his first Captain and T concert when he was about 12, and I was sort of embarrassed because he stood and sang every word to every song they performed ( this was so stupid of me) We got to go back stage and meet them and they were as warm and engaging with Mike as they could be. He would go on to meet with them over the years at least 6 more times and had gorgeous pictures with them, 1 hung in my mothers living room for many years. Mike went on as an adult to make his living with his singing and keyboard playing. We ( my other 3 brothers and myself) could not stand to hear C and T songs since we heard them non stop when Mike was growing up. He even had a captain’s hat that he would wear while sitting at the piano. Now I would give anything to listen to this music with my sweet brother again, you see , he took his life at age 39, 15 years ago. His mementos and pictures with Toni and Daryl as well as his captains hat are such treasures to me now. People please never be embarrassed by the passion someone you love shows for something or someone, for it could be the thing you miss the most about them. Thank you for what you do Jamal, you touch lives more than you know sir. Most Gratefully, Cheryl

Willis Alan Ramsey’s original is like a side character at a campfire singing about other characters falling in love. America’s cover is the version that plays non-diegetically as the couple splits off to be alone together. And Captain & Tennille is the Kidz Bop version that should be suppressed at once.
@Cosmo-Kramer
3 жыл бұрын
Diegetically, there is no difference between America's cover and the original. Additionally, your comment about America's version, that "the couple splits off to be alone together", makes no sense. The lyrics are the same for all three versions. smh
@Wired4Life2
3 жыл бұрын
@@Cosmo-Kramer I was thinking in terms of movies, dude. For me, America’s version is the most genuinely intimate of the three, so I’ve always imagined it as what plays between a couple in their heads instead of a friend or whomever singing about them. Therefore, what I said does make sense.

What people may not know about the 45-rpm single of Muskrat Love is that at the end of the song, when the needle on the record player goes into the run out groove, you can hear a kinda fast "clip-clop" sound that goes on forever until you take the needle off the record. Similar to The Beatles Sgt. Pepper album in England, where there is continuous jibberish when the run out groove is played. On the Captain & Tennille's Greatest Hits CD, the clip clop sound is added onto the end of the song for effect.

Some Captain and Tennille trivia: Guns n' Roses recorded their debut album Appetite for Destruction in Daryl and Toni's recording studio. Toni sang backing vocals for Pink Floyd, Elton John, and Art Garfunkel. She can be heard on The Wall, Art Garfunkel's second solo album titled Breakaway, and no less than four Elton John albums. The locked groove (the groove between the recording and the label) on the Muskrat Love 45 plays a repeating loop of synthesized muskrat chatter until you stop it.

There is a great parody of this song called "Hamster Love" by Big Daddy. These are the lyrics: Hamster, hamster by candle light. Do it in a casserole is doing it right. When they're in season, they're pretty pleasin'. Hamster sandwich, hamster and cheese. Hamster sandwiches with mayoneeze, are delicious, and so nutritious. You can dice, you can slice and fillet them. Cut off their heads and sauté them. And into the oven you shove, smells like hamster love. Hamster curry, or pickled toes, Australian hamster tails, any good chef knows how to make them, or just shake and bake them. For breakfast, for lunch or while dining, as a snack munch their deep-fried fur lining. Into your mouth with a shove, tastes like hamster love. For breakfast, for lunch or while dining, as a snack munch their deep-fried fur lining. Into your mouth with a shove, tastes like hamster love. La-la la la-la, la-la la la. This song is a cover. It was originally written and recorded in 1972 and it's been covered at least three times since then.

@@TheCybertiger9 no, America covered it too. They were the second to cover it. The first cover was by Lani Hall and Herb Alpert. It was originally written and recorded by Willis Alan Ramsey in 1972.

There used to be a chill laid-backness to America in the mid and late 70s that we lost when Reagan took over in 1981. It's a real shame that has been forgotten

They and The Carpenters and Oasis (sp?) were right there in the height of 70's soft rock. Considered super schmaltzy to everyone with more complicated tastes but I loved them as a kid.

They had a show in the 70s, and performed live. She mentioned the bicentennial (1976), so I'm guessing that the video you watched was 1978.

The group America recorded this song in '73, before Captain and Tennille did it in '76, but it was a bigger hit for C&T.

You have GOT to hear the original by Willis Alan Ramsey. It’s really really good!

Try Willis’ “Northeast Texas Women.” It’s a shame that Ramsey only recorded one album. Still playing around Austin these days.

The original is good, but America's version is hands-down the best.

I was once stuck in a Target pharmacy for 40 minutes and they played the Muzak version of this song. That was the day I knew Hell was real.

The vibe is definitely early to mid-70's. Lots of smooth music and jazzy pop.

This is a great cover of this song as well as the cover done the band America. There is also a great parody of this song done Big Daddy. The parody is called Hamster Love.

This is one time where the studio version is better. Henry’s Kissinger’s reaction is not surprising given how stoic he was.

They had a tv show, as well. So many nice songs. They were so good together. The husband-and-wife team were "Captain" Daryl Dragon (August 27, 1942 - January 2, 2019) and Toni Tennille (born May 8, 1940)

You are saying Tennille correctly. Just say it with a smile! :) Don't know if you had heard The Captain died a few years ago. They had been divorced a few years. It was sad, they had their problems, which I know was a surprise to me and sad to hear. But she was with him when he died, I heard. They lived up in Prescott AZ at the time. Anyway, I don't know the background story, but have loved them both all these years. She is one tall drink of water too. Lean and lanky! Just delightful music from when I was in my twenties. This was a silly song but worth watching. They could do anything! Glad you are enjoying them! :)
