Really enjoying the series. Have had to do a lot of this stuff on my recently acquired 280sl euro. Funny enough I also drilled straight through the wire when I was reattaching those trim pieces. Couldn't figure out why everything was shorting out all the time!

It really is hard to cram those wires back under the trim and I can definitely see how it happened!

Because the Windscreens are basically Glued into place the bright trim is simply pushed into the mastic/glue to the point where it looks about right. regarding soler. Go to your local hardware and buy a small container of soldering flux. It's usually a white paste and the containers are about 2" diameter.you get a small stick and smear a little bit on the wires to be soldered. next, melt a bit of solder (small diameter NON rosin core) .get a blob of solder on the tip. touch the blob to the flux on the wires and you are done. to get constant hot wire(yellow) connect to fuse #1 by unscrewing the fuse block and pulling it out from the kick panel. connect to the consumer side of the fuse with ring terminals on the leads. All Mercedes come with radio wiring in place unless some expert has cut them out .I've seen big dollar sound systems connected to the cig lighter. Also,Brown is ground. any brown lead with a different colour tracer is a signal wire . On the W107's it is normally for dash/door/dome lights. etc . Good luck with your project. I have a 380 SL here that customer wants restored. It's a $100,000 project buy he wants it done.

I have been binge watching this series today. Really appreciate your planning and patience. My son recently bought an ‘84 380SL. Would you share how much you spent on parts and about how many hours of work you have put in?

Thank you for the views! So far I have spent 6,595.07 in parts. I really do not know how many hours, I would estimate over 500
