Nice video. If I could add a sixth tip for your viewers, it is don't underestimate the importance of water. Some of the best spots on the board require 1 or 2 water, and if you are dry, your game can become constrained to poorer options. Warm regards, Rick.

I love these tips! I particularly like the idea of always having an intrigue card in hand, as it keeps other players guessing (and they're almost always helpful). If I may, one strategy tip I'll add to the mix is that because it's perfectly fine to have a slim deck in Dune Imperium, buying a single powerful card early in the game and making decisions based on that one card can reap huge rewards throughout the game. I played a few weeks ago, and each player had one such card that defined our deck, and we each deeply benefited from the choices we made around that card.

Great tip, Jamey! One of my favorite things about this game is that it has a broader variety in what makes a “successful” deck than the typical deck builder.

@@jameystegmaier and most certainly if that card synergises well (like the fremen cards, or the bene gesserit ones that require you to have another one of their faction's card in your hand)

Trashing cards can have a greater effect depending on the character you have. Those that permit card draws such as Paul mean you can really move through the deck faster, especially if you can use the Bene Gesserit faction action to trash a card and draw more. Even more so if you're able to use the Mentat as well. You do need to be careful not to trash out action areas entirely mind you. I'll always try and get rid of at least one Dagger and at least one Dune the desert planet.

Most important ones aren't mentioned: prioritize getting an extra worker (Swordmaster) and getting 2 extra resources each turn to spend on buying cards (High Council seat). Because these benefits will be in effect each of your turns they're important to get early.

I disagree with sword-master. I think it depends on your plan for the game. I have won multiple times without ever getting sword master. If your focusing on getting points thru cards and a strong deck then you must have high council. Sword master makes you weaker though with this strategy. Causing you to play one more card instead of using it during ur reveal. If your going to focus on combat and actions then yes you want to get sword master and maybe not high council.

@@Ericobeasto13 True, you need focus. If I play Rombur for instance I want Dreadnaughts early and expand military dominance with Swordmaster while High Council will be 3rd priority. For other leaders High council is top priority IMO like spice addict Arianna Torvald and her father.

@@Ericobeasto13 Great point about the Sword Master! (it makes you play your cards instead of using them in the reveal).

I don’t think rushing Swordmaster is a bad choice, but in general it is overrated and I have won plenty of games without it. Its value also diminishes with more players, more swordmasters, and just as the game goes on. You probably don’t ever want to be the 4th person selecting Swordmaster… 😂 Often better to focus elsewhere. An early High Council is much more important, imo.

3:19 I’d say trashing cards is very good, you gradually replace the starters with improved cards and at the end you start going to research for 3 cards because you have a good chance of drawing those awesome cards multiple rounds in a row

Thanks for the video tips, however, I don't understand the mentat one? Being able to go last? As in playing after everyone else finished their round even if you are the first one playing for the turn ? Meaning you could play your regular agents, wait for the others players to finish their rounds, and only then play the mentat before end of turn? I don't see that effect mentioned anywhere in the rule book.
@TheCardboardHerald
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastien! The mentat agent is added to your pool of agents to the round, so let's say all players have 3 agents and you are going first, meaning player C normally would have the opportunity to go last. You are player A and your first action is to take the mentat, which will act as a 4th agent in your pool for this round. That was action A1, then players continue going around B1, C1, A2 (your second turn), B2, C2, A3, B3, C3, then finally because you added the mentat to your pool you will have a 4th agent placement (A4) after C3. That can be really powerful in deciding what you may want to contribute to the conflict even though you got to go first. I hope that helps!

Intrigue cards are good until you fellow players realize you're not playing it because it's not very useful. The mental basically shifts your 2nd or 3rd turn to the final round. It's not inherently powerful. Progress on the tracks cannot be overturned? Then we're playing it wrong
@TheCardboardHerald

Once you get to the cap on the allegiance tracks, unless you do something to voluntarily reduce your progress, you will be locked in to the bonus points, since the token only changes hands when someone passes the current holder on the track.
