The guy standing between Carl and George in that photo appears to be drummer Jim Keltner. Besides drumming on the Wilbury records, he’s worked with a virtual Who’s Who of legendary artists.

I remember reading about early Beatles before they made it big, how each Beatle briefly changed their names for a gig. George changed his name to "Carl" Harrison after his idol, Carl Perkins.

The Beatles “Live at the BBC” album is probably my favorite. And I noticed a pattern, most of my faves on there were Carl Perkins songs. I realize now it’s because you can just hear the pure joy in their voices and a special energy when they sing his songs.

I’m an old dude I heard of Carl growing up, but I had never heard him sing until very recent. I’m sorry I waited so long, He had a great voice. The stories Stan tells are priceless. I do believe George Harrison from stories I heard other people tell, was the only beatle who was down to earth.

Still love it!!!!! Maybe I said it on here or the 2nd part or maybe someone else commented, but....when the Beatles 1st started out - and before they were famous or big or anything - they all adopted stage names, as was par for the course for many British bands, etc. Lennon became Long John or something, McCartney became Paul Ramon, and George became Carl Harrison (obviously after Carl Perkins). He was a big fan of Carl Perkins. And I love the story of My Old Friend that is on KZitem somewhere about Carl and Paul's experience together just after John died. Carl just seems like the ultimate stand-up guy!

Hello from England When you look back at the career of Frank Sinatra by the late 40's his singing career had all but collapsed and even by the early 50's it was still not quite "there yes" and John Lennon says "before Elvis there was nothing" Lots of memorable history of The Beatles connection with Stan and his dad There are many interviews over the years of Cliff Richard saying similar and he was "the British Elvis"

The Beatles did very, very poor versions of Carl's original rockabilly songs. The Beatles took the rockabilly out of Carl's songs! The Beatles versions of "Honey Don't", "Matchbox", and "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" stand as the poorest covers the Beatles ever did. Ringo was not a good choice to sing two of those songs.

Elvis didn't write many songs, never was an Elvis fan, buddy Holly, wrote songs and knew how to play gtr, so in MY opinion buddy was more important than Elvis . Buddy Holly was a musician, Elvis was an entertainer... Simple as that
