The system is so much a mess that any real analysis on healthcare requires ignoring left and right politics entirely (which historically never cared about your health anyways) and carefully analyzing our relationship with our bodies to the healthcare industry. It's not just the insurance scalping, the denied claims or the malpractice. Its a system that enables all of this behavior, rooted in the alienation produced by the relationship we as people are expected to have with medicine.

For example, the wellness industry, based on meager scientific support and basic self care advice, and heavily integrated with the very questionable supplement industry, is heavily promoted by the insurance industry to the point that blue cross engages in invasive information farming practices to gather "wellness" information to make determinations and cost reductions. The same company then constantly interferes with practitioners and their work by denying claims and forcing them to keep up with ridiculous bookkeeping. That is to say, the insurance company who actively focuses on crap produced by an industry that is half pseudo science is the same company deciding whether or not you get medically necessary treatment and testing. They do not care if you are sick. They care if you are basically healthy and can maximize their returns.

At 11:33 as dangerous as that situation could have been I'm glad to see there are still decent people in this world who think of the safety of others and that because of that nothing seriously bad happened. The second one person ran up to try to hold the ride down a crowd formed to help, and that's almost heartwarming to see. Not only did they prevent the ride from tipping and arguably saved the people on the ride from serious injury or worse, but they also were looking out for the first person who ran to help as they knew they couldn't hold it themselves. Bravo to that crowd of good decent people, you love to see it :) honestly still though that was terrifying lol, I always think about that kind of thing happening when I'm at carnivals or amusement parks or stuff like that but I try not to let it get in the way of my fun 😅 hopefully if I'm ever in a situation like that people would look out for me too and try to help, either that or let me go out quick and not feel it, ya know? 😅😂

Thankfully it did not tip over. But let's be honest, those people did not hold it down. Their weight was insignificant. The ride was most likely not shimmed properly and started tipping because it lost its support blocks or something under one of the legs. Now imagine if one of those bystander got killed because they tried to hold a carnival ride down with their body.... I don't applaud what they did. They might look like heroes now but if luck was to go the other way they would look like fools.

I worked at a major amusement park about 14 years ago. From what I recall, they had a policy where you can't start loading the first cart after a maint. stop until after the test cart returns and comms is notified to record it. I worked in the communication center so when the rides were down I'd get the call to dispatch maint. and make a record of it. I'd then have to make a record of maint. fixing it and the test being complete before finally recording the ride reopened. I'd be surprised if they didn't have a similar policy. They probably did but never enforced it.

12:18 Thank you thank you thaaank you for pointing out all the civilians who rushed up and grabbed ahold of the ride. One person alone wouldn't have been enough, but in groups, humans can display incredible feats of strength. Had you not brought it up, I would've. People taking action to help without a duty to do so is inspiring, to say the least. One question I do have, though: If one (or more) of those civilians got injured (i.e. strained back) by holding onto the ride while it was in operation, would they have a claim?
@Wobmiar
Жыл бұрын
I'm not a lawyer, but I think the size of the claim would depend on the damage and what caused it. Per example, if one of the people trying to hold the ride had a previously medically vulnerable back, then the carnival could argue that the damage to the back was not caused by holding the ride per say, but caused by a previously known weak back ("you should not have done something that you reasonably knew would break your back"). For everyone else in perfect health, if any damage was caused purely because of the ride being woopadidoo, I would assume there would be a case. Fortunately, in that video, it seemed like the common effort of the civilians went perfectly according to "plan", therefore I don't think it would be easy to sue the park. (I say "not easy" instead of "impossible" because in America you are allowed to sue anyone for any reason, so... Doesn't mean you will win, but you are allowed to try ^^) I genuinely would love a detailed answer to that question from a professionnal, not just me lol, that's why I answer your comment more than a year later :P

Most likely not. At the very least, the airline would have a strong case that if the passenger behaved, they wouldn't have had to do that. Furthermore, a passenger or flight attendant near him could aid him in attaching a floatation device, or air mask as needed. Their only other options would be: - trapping them in a bathroom, which if they're a danger to themselves, could still cause harm (and would restrict access for others), and would still have the same problem. - Emergency landing, which isn't always possible. - Letting the man continue, which could cause harm, be a major HR issue, etc. - idk man, throwing him off the plane?

No, the airline likely wouldn't be liable. It is foreseeable that you would be restrained if you assaulted people on a flight. And I don't know all of the specifics but airline crews have the legal right to restrain someone that is a threat. The only way he would have a case is if he could argue that his actions weren't enough to warrant being restrained. But, since you said in this hypothetical that he has assaulted an attendant he likely would have his suit thrown out almost immediately.

Not only have I been denied the services but I’ve been told that I’m lucky that I get any services. I’ve been belittled, I’ve been called racial names by a therapist and when I tried to report it I was encouraged to walk back my statement to protect the therapist who “hadn’t REALLY done anything wrong” I’m dying and no one cares. When I was still a kid I had the opportunity to go on a rollercoaster at the town's local fair (the park was not in use at any time except annually during the fair week, and the amusement rides were often hired). I'd wanted to go on a coaster since I'd first seen it but only had an opportunity that particular year because it was the first time I was of valid height. I ended up choosing not to go on the ride because I'd heard of an incident happening on this same roller coaster. It was a metal coaster with regular cars, nothing fancy. But what happened with the girl who became the victim was that the cars had re-entered the station and it appeared the coaster was stopped, alongside the safety mechanism releasing allowing passengers to exit the coaster. This girl was doing so at the time the coaster lurched to it's actual stop but in the process with her halfway out the car, she slipped and her leg was caught between the coaster and the rails. She had to have that leg amputated below the knee from the extent of the injury.

Toxic residue cloud? Their rockets burn methane and oxygen. The only exhaust is water vapour and co2.
@Flashfire2205
3 жыл бұрын
The main rocket fuels used by SpaceX do not release toxic clouds. There is a relatively small quantity of chemicals aboard SpaceX rockets that would produce any toxic cloud at all and none of these are used as main fuels. These chemicals wouldn't even be close to a threat as the amounts are so small and would be burned up immediately if the rocket were to explode. On top of this, no residents live directly under the path that any SpaceX rocket flies as launch facilities are strategically placed far enough from the civilian population that even in the case of a catastrophic failure residents will be safe.

I don't know motorcycles, but I know bicycles, and falling over is _potentially_ a valid way to avoid a hazard that could result in a worse injury than just falling over. There are way bigger versions with a more solid foundation, but here in Sweden, in Gothenburg, at the amusement park Liseberg, there was, if I recall correctly, a couple of major incidents with one of those, where the carriage or whatever you call it, got flung off the arm and launched the thing and killed almost everyone in it, both times. I think they have removed all such rides now.
