After 40 years, I accidentally broke the glass of my Casio TS-1200 and it got some moisture inside which killed the watch. Then I was looking for a replacement and found exactly this Casio watch and I really like it. Now I hope I can wear it for 40 years, too 😆

You were right! This seems like a banger! I like the layout and button placement. The color is nice too! The battery is the only thing I would improve on. Tough solar would have been a game changer. Have a great week bro!

…and here’s another great Casio I didn’t know much about. And now I want to get. Absolutely. Luckily I have a small wrist, so that could be a reason preventing me to buy YET another Casio. Awesome review, as usual! Thanks!

I’m not a huge Casio aficionado, but always enjoy learning about watches. Although this one seems a bit large for me. For me the biggest issue is the Casioak can be bought for not that much more. Thanks for the great review!

Good point. I’d go with the compass and give up the small digital display. However…I’ll keep both!! Thanks for watching!

Hi. Great review. I just picked up one of these today, hardly used, from eBay for £34.00, that’s what bought me to your vid as I am learning about it. I agree, it’s a great watch. Would be so much better as a tough Solar multi band, but the money, I paid, It’s fantastic! All the best.👍🏾😉🇬🇧

Thanks for bringing this one forward. It seems like a compromise between common Casios and the more elaborate Pro-Treks and G-Shocks, really a gateway watch for budding collectors able to spend more to get more in the future. That said, this looks much more classy than most clunky G-Shocks, and the ProTrek sits on my narrow wrist like a dinner plate. Short battery life or not, I'd like to buy one of these just because I like the way it looks.

Hey Tim, thanks for the review. How do use the temperature sensor on watches like these? I find that my body heat skews the read out. Thanks!

The watch should be off your wrist for 20-30 minutes. The air temp should change the temperature of the watch to the surrounding ambient temperature. The key is to get the watch off your wrist. Have a great week!

How durable is this thing? I know it's not shock/drop resistant . Worried about dropping it once or bumping up against the squat rack and busting it.

Casios are incredibly shock resistant. Check out my video on F200 and the shock torture test I put it through. I've own many non-G-Shock watches such as Pathfinder triple sensors....for decades...and never had an issue. Tough as nails. I see no reason to suggest that there are any shock issues besides the more extreme examples for military, extreme outdoor sports/activities, etc. I wouldn't worry about it. I wear this watch outdoor quite a bit and zero issues. I'm a sample size of one.

Does the compass on this watch require calibration? I have a SGW100 and one of the things that drives me crazy about it is having to recalibrate it every 90 days. Very fussy and it’s been in the drawer ever since I got my Mudman. I like the style of this line of watches, just don’t want to have to keep messing with it to make sure it’s actually reading correctly.
@Realidealgear

I've not had to recalibrate it. So far so good. I've had it for a couple months. From my review of other reviews, I think what you're referring to is the exposure to magnetic fields throwing the calibration off. I don't think this a manufacturer issue as the watch would be subject to various levels of magnetic exposure depending on the user and not the design of the watch itself....thats my limited understanding.

@@Realidealgear It requires calibration straight out of the box and the manual recommends performing recalibration every 90-100 days. You have to spin it in a circle attempting to chase a flashing marker, preferably far far away from any electronic/magnetic interference. Sometimes it works the first time but quite often you end up repeating the ritual about 3 times before it gets in the ballpark. I think it's just down to getting what you pay for and the 100 having an older, more primitive module than the 500. Long story short, I definitely would't rely on it for serious navigation.
