Justin Gochioco It's a Disney Princess movie, obviously its target demographic is girls. If people who can't be fitted in the group like it, it doesn't change the fact that it was made with primarily girls in mind. Take a look at My Little Pony. With all that said, I don't think it's all that relevant to think of films or tv shows as "for girls" or "for boys". It's a great thing to have a film that is enjoyable for everyone, old or young, boy or girl. As long as you don't show anything intended for mature audiences to your kids, everything's fine.

I think this movie could have been so much better with a few changes. 1- Remove the Father and replace him with a Grandfather as King who want's to ensure a Marriage that will strengthen their kingdom(I guess you can do with changing the King's character, but he's kinda dead to me). Maybe imply different kingdoms and they don't get along, only reason a king who is supposed to be a good guy would try to set up a beloved family member with someone who cheated on them is fear, unless... 2-Give Roland some knowledge on magic that messes with the mind, maybe something that makes people more suggestible, could be used to make girl's forget he's dating someone or make them forget they had a fling or Convince people him cheating on his fiance was a misunderstanding. then mention that it's not effective when someone has very negative feelings toward them. Maybe imply that he's not even a good soldier and he's been using said magic to steal credit. Now to ensure he gets the throne he need's magic that affect's the mind that's much stronger than his so he 'convinces' Sunny that a love potion is alright, maybe have him against the idea then given another dose of 'convincing'. 3-Make the Sugar-Plum Fairy Evil, have her be the Queen of another kingdom and she weaponized her love potion to turn kingdoms against each other and maybe have her meddling be the reason things are tense between kingdoms years later. Have the Bog King loose all but his Mother because of it, it can give him motivation other then 'I Am Evil', which didn't make sense that he would call himself that but others do not touch his character. Anyway, Make up some stupid binding Fairy Law that means Bog can't harm her , like maybe have her claim she didn't do anything directly, but have him lock her up. Have her see Sunny as a means to escape, knowing that Bog would seek out a potion being made and send Imp to run away with the potion(and have fun using it) basically being a puppet-master to escape. Could even Make Bog's mother have her own guards keeping an eye on Sugar-plum implying she might be gifted with magic too, maybe even trying to find way's to protect from or expel her magic. 4-Change the ending a little- Have the Bog and Marianne relationship not be made 'official' but going the Frozen route where it's clear they will start dating. Have Sugar-Plum and Roland escape together as sequel bait if they really wanted to make more films and imply Sugar-plum intends to start problems. And Have Bog's mother make a Cure for the potion (Potion can still be used again afterwards). Also have Imp hang out with them. Bonus-Less Song's

@@troodon1096 Ehhh, "rip off" would imply Lion King had no original ideas to distinguish it from its source material and lacks creative value. While yes, the core "Relative kills main character's father and main character gets revenge" is still there, the story progresses in very different ways. For example, Hamlet was never under any illusion that he was responsible for his Father's death, and a lot of the story is focused on Hamlet trying to determine for himself his relative's guilt and devising a way to take revenge while navigating court politics. Simba on the other hand immediately places blame on himself for his father's death and runs away from home (as opposed to Hamlet who resists his relative's attempts to remove him from the castle), and was eventually convinced to return home to defeat Scar.

Here’s how I would improve it - 1. Start Marianne’s and the Bog King’s relationship *EARLY!* 2. Already make Dawn and Sunny in love with each other, but have it be so that fairies can’t be with elves for either oppression reasons or tension between the two sides 3. Instead of Bog King trying to use a love potion on someone, someone tried to use a love potion on *him.* This would deeply traumatize him and make him against love as a whole. (Not only will this make the Bog King more sympathetic, but it would also bring attention to male victims of rape)

In fairness, Beauty and the Beast isn't about stockholm syndrome. Stockholm syndrome is triggered when the kidnapped mistakes a lack of abuse from the kidnappee for an act of kindness. The Beast doesn't abuse Belle for some time during the film, and even then, Belle doesn't fall in love with him. It's only when the Beast makes a legitimate effort to become appealing does Belle start to develop feelings for him. Yeah, that could be construed as stockholm syndrome, but here's the thing. When the Beast says that Belle can leave... she just leaves. She only comes back when the Beast's life is in danger.
@taddad2641

largely the difference is that she chose to be there and the beast did not force her. and stockholm is definitely one fucking confusing set of circumstances so thank god. belle began caring for the beast when the beast fended off a bunch of wolves and got hurt in the process. which was an enormously badass scene.

I didn’t like the movie because I knew right from the start who was gonna fall in love with who. I would’ve liked to see Dawn loose the spell earlier and get the option to leave from Bog. However instead she decided to stay with him to get to know him. (maybe just like friends or more) Then I would want her to find out that it was the friendzone guy who tried to drug her and dump him as a friend (I didn’t like him at all tbh). The protagonist could’ve realised she didn’t have to hate love just because of the time the evil dude cheated, I’d like to see her still single but more calm and understanding about the subject. Oh and their dad could’ve realised they were two strong independent women who could take care of themselves. I HATE the fact both of them had to fall in love in the end, such a disappointment!! >:(

Ehhh...except the core point is kind of the same: beast meets beauty and they fall in love and beauty's love changes the beast as a person. It's an inversion of the usual formula because beauty discovers that beastliness isn't so bad after all but it's not a gender swap. It's a clever inversion because it says that beauty isn't as important as love, but also an unfortunate in a way because that means beauty permanently changes herself to get her man.

Dark Crystal! JAMMMMEEEESSSSSSSS (Only Odd1sOut fans will get it) “Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm” -Chamberlin 1982
Just watched this film on Disney+. It's just "meh" for me. I really hated the songs being so jam-packed because I think the movie would've done fine without them. I really like the idea of a "light ruler" and a "dark ruler" falling in love. My only problem with that in this movie is that he looks 50 years older than her. When they kissed at the end I almost gagged.

Soooo, if she said that there are 5 songs in the first 20 minutes *·* There is (on average) a song every 4 minutes *·* Assuming the songs are about 3 minutes long, that is 1 minute breaks between songs. *·* So constant songs throughout the first 20 minutes, with 1 minute breaks at regular intervals. I'm starting to see why Celly hates it so much...

If you can stand it and look past some of the... questionable cringe moments, there ARE if you believe me some tolerable and actually maybe a little cute parts. I'll admit, I'm a sucker for romance stories, but this film is a prime example of how NOT to do a romance story. It just comes off as bad fan fiction. Hell, this is worst than Sonic and Elise in Sonic 06, at least, at the VERY least, they have some chemistry. The romance in it is still bad, but there's some justified reasons for it.
