Thanks for such bitter sweet memories of places I grew up in my teens... I used to live in Lo UK Village and my family is Hakka..and the landlord Law Sing was a remote relative of us. I am now living in Southern California, USA. It was like two different worlds. But I missed my good old days in Chai Wan.

@Simon Cheung, Ah Ha, so you are originally from the farm house, and you know Father Edmonds and his School: Meng Tak. The good news is that Meng Tak is still around to provide the Catholic education for the Chai Wan kids. The bad news is that Father Edmonds passed away in 2005. Do you still remember Sister Diggins (鄧姑娘)? Here is her photo: imgur.com/sFyP6E5 In 2012, Sister Diggins asked me if I ran into any family from the farm house section. I said no. She said she got some fond memories of a family, especially the kids (one of them was a cute girl with double-pony-tails 孖辮靚女) who played with chicken and pigs. I told Sister Diggins that girl (孖辮靚女) was my classmate in Star of Sea School, and later she got transferred to Meng Tak School. What a small world!

@@PS-kk8jl HI Jaime, Nice to know someone who know of the farm house in Chai Wan back in those innocent years ! Especially Fr Edmonds. He gave me lots of courage and inspiration during my teenage years spending time in his church. He gave me a Holy Cross when I graduated from 明德and went onto Hong Kong Wah Yan College for high school. At Meng Tak, of course I remember Sister Diggins, and Sister Catherine ( 嘉 姑娘)whom I spent many weekends in Meng Tak for bible studies. And the teachers, I still remember 李碧流 and 李琼流 sisters, the most beautiful classy stylish lady teachers I ever knew. In fact all of the teachers at Meng Tak were excellent teachers who not only teach according to text books but also how to live life with manners, respect and life style. The original school buildings, with the stone walls, the green gables, and the immaculate gardens with roses that lead to the playground with a view to 鲤鱼门。It is still very clearly in my mind, even though I am in my late 60s. I also remember Star of the Sea School because many kids in the neighbourhood went there. I revisited the old Maryknoll Sisters Primary School ( 明德)in 2012 on a trip back to Hong Kong and found it became a French International School. The new Meng Tak is nearby and doesn't have the charm and character of the old school. Oh those were the golden age days !
I lived in Block 26, 6th floor during 1961 to 1966. Love to hear from my old buddies 😊

@@PS-kk8jl It is fantastic to know that you knew about Peter ( 盧樹春) and he is indeed a very kind person. We spent a lot of good time playing together in those good old years. It must have been over 55 years ago that I last saw him ! It would be so nice to know the where about of Peter ! 还有一位儿时好朋友,Johnny Wong(黄毓康)住在明德下面(第一段?)Hope they are all well, healthy and happy ! Thanks so much Jaime ! Greetings to all past and present Chai Wan residents ! May Fr Edmond in heaven bless us all !
