My dad after 32 years in the Marine corps became a locksmith. He started carrying a spare key in his wallet. Because he kept locking his keys in his van while on a job. And doing the same since I was 16.

Chad, it's a good idea to keep those bottom brackets out of the water...submerging them can dry them out, introduce debris and cause more maintenance than is necessary

Yeah I know Justin and have ridden with him in Alabama Talladega National Forest Shoal Creek division near Heflin. If you ever come this way holla and ask for Jimmy Smith. And as for ultra running, there is a Pinhotti 100 in the Talladega NF section near Cheaha State Park. Unfortunately, the Alabama portion of the Pinhotti is not open to bicycles. But Jeep roads and gravel roads with nice views etc.

Mountain biking is so diverse. You can be a bike park rider that does lift chairs all day, or someone like Chad who more or less bikepacks. I mountain bike 2-3x a week 10-15 miles with a good 2k of climbing each ride. I also have a gravel bike for commuting to work. I really think Chad would like a nice carbon gravel bike

11:15. Hahaha. Yup, I remember working with a guy, nice enough guy but, moved rather slow. I apparently stepped on a yj nest, and it took a few seconds to figure out what the movement was by my feet. When I looked up and started to run my "slow" coworker was already halfway across the yard. Haha. Guess he's quick when it matters. Got stung 3 or 4 times. Not him. Ahhhh... memories

Looks like a terrific ride, and great fun. Love riding the big woods, and that looks like big woods. How were the bugs on that trail? Where we ride near the North Coast, the bugs can be bad so we try to not stop. Like the idea of the water purifier, as it means carrying less weight. Thanks for the pictures! It is a bit like being there.

Hi, can you perhaps one day make a video where you discuss, if you ever had fear of failure or did fail numerous times and how you overcame maybe a defeatist mentality? Even if you never had that, how do you stay mentally strong and keep pushing forward in the face of adversity, be it in actual combat or other difficult life situations? Thank you
