Thank you for the load securement video on bobcat loading there tomorrow. I normally haul steel or house goods not much machinery.

The only time I would chain up this way is if I'm running out of chains. In Canada, this method is not good enough. The driver has to use 1 binder per corner. DOT only accepts having 1 binder per corner of the machine. So what we do (or at least the people I work beside and with) hook the chain to the trailer pocket and hook the binder to the tie down spot facing down on the Bobcat (or any other machinery that has a dedicated hook up spot). Rinse, repeat for each corner of the machine. If we hook the chain to the Bobcat like he shows, Never have the hook opening facing up. Reason? If the binder fails or the load shifts forward due to some other contributing factor and the chain loosens, The weight of the hook will fall free and unhook from the chain. Always have the hook opening facing down so if the chain loosens it will rest on the back side of the hook and remain hooked up. This method also eliminates the need to have the chain looped over and under the tie down spots along the trailer. Hook goes through the pin pocket and comes up the outside of the pin pocket and hook to the backside of the hook pocket all inside the rub rail. You can use a long chain to hook up both corners of the skid steers with a binder on each corner and the chain between the 2 binders is loose and just wrap the slack chain around one or both binders. I often use binder twine (aka bailer wire) to secure any slack chain between the corners. This method also reduces damage to the rub rail attachments between the pin pockets.

Thanks for the knowledge. Does it matter if your pulling away or towards load with your binders? Isn't it ok to do it either way, as long as your pulling against eachother right?

Its all nice and tight man but all d.o.t. requires 4 point tie downs and one over each attachment. Not one chain for each side. One tie down on each corner. Dont matter if the chain is rated high or the skid loader is under 10,000 lbs. 4 point tie down.

Wrong the equipment is under 10k lbs so only need one in front one in back and east attachment as well
