Those rotten buggers can break off the stump in the wrong direction with the most experienced man cutting. He did very well. Seems to be more limbs( weight) on the low side as well, which adds to the chance of breaking off in the wrong direction. I've logged full-time, professionally, for over 20 years and will tell those who think that tree could've been cut without wedges; Unless its leaning in the direction of your target, a tree will fall back on your saw, effectively pinching the bar and rendering it stuck, 100% of the time. Anyone who has spent more than an hour in the forest cutting trees will figure that out the hard way. Don't get me started on the effect of wind while falling.

I'm a believer that there is a saturation point when it comes to safety equipment. you can keep adding and adding safety devices until they completely disable you from doing the job, and make any work impossible I especially don't like chaps because all it takes is for them to get snagged on a branch when you are trying to make an escape from falling tree limbs and you are toast. your brain is your most important piece of safety equipment.

You understand its an arborist mandatory clothing for sawing? Try just wearing jeans and see how fast the saw will slice you without them. They seriously help. Its not a matter of getting tangled its called pay the hell attention.

Darn good fell, a twin base and rotting to the core, good job. And yes, I am American and please take this as a complement .... Your work area was 37 to 40 degrees in angle, that's not easy for a good platform to work with, but you a great job..... safety first, .. pay check latter..

I just have a question for anyone else that might happen to have a 357 xpg.... I have one and for the most part really like the saw. The only problem I have had with it is I have never been able to get it to oil properly. Bars always overheat and end up cooked.... I have had various shops attempt to fix it with no luck. Does anyone know if this is a common problem with this saw or did I just happen to luck out and get one that is defective?

first of all he's felling it uphill, when the tree is obviously leaning DOWNHILL. If there was a good reason to fell it uphill,he did not make his notch big enough. Did he really think his little wedges would change anything? The tree still didn't fall in line with the notch, but 90 deg. to the left. So he wore himself out driving wedges in to overcome the lean; abigger notch would not have required wedges.---Maine wood cutter

"u americans" ? we are from sweden, both of us, if you would just check our texts before you start insulting people. And no it is not safer to have the fellingcut higher then the notch, the hinge will breake by the fibers of the tree and sometimes fall of the stump in the middle of the fall. But our way of cutting is not perfect either, it has its flaws. But we dont live in the same country, so we work differently, thats all. and learn some respect
