I would urge you to not focus too much on VO2Max from the watch (good too look at data but it is not always trustworthy). The other stuff you talk about like not being able to complete long runs, yes, those are good indicators, but the watch is fallible. Mine fluctuates 4 points fairly often (it's even fluctuated like 6+ points going down to like 54 and as high as 62. I'm sitting at 59 now but I ran my fastest marathon when it was like 57 🤷♀ - the things I pay attention to are resting heart rate and HRV. But resting heart rate shows if you are not recovering - it is stays higher). I was thinking about you yesterday on my run - and while I'm not a coach, I have been through a lot of different plans and had coaches before (had one I paid for back in 2017 - ultimately I improved more without one), I think that if you want to get faster, it is the weekly aerobic volume you are putting in. It's great that you are doing those treadmill hikes - any additional amount of time you can put into the week where you get your HR up will help. I do wonder if this plan is just too low on mileage. I did not see marked improvement in my performances until I routinely hit 40+ miles per week (that is when I finally did BQ, I peaked at 50-something miles). Some people don't need that but they are often genetically gifted runners. Speed work like strides is definitely important as we age (very important), too.

I agree with all these assessments. :) Yes I think it was too low on miles, but I already upped the mileage last week and plan on running more miles than what the plan calls for. basically I am keeping the long run with the miles at MP, and then upping every run. And getting rid of the threshold. I hate thresholds and I've always done better in races without them. I think they are the kind of run that I dont recover from fast enough. I didn't do it last week (did intervals instead) and my long run was tough, but I did it.

@@IRunThings Yeah, thresholds can work but you can get away without them just doing more Z1/Z2 volume and some high end speed work. I wouldn't worry about adding tempo/threshold until you get up to at least 40 miles per week. Then it might make sense (but TBH, I would probably put more effort into getting to 50 mpw before I would worry about adding tempo).

Trying incorporating co2 tolerance training. Co2 tolerance training I like to do is lie down and follow a video, where you breath through your diaphragm and then hold your breath 50% of your max breath hold then you diaphragm breath again but the time is shorter and then hold again for the same time and you keep doing it until all breath holds are done then it has a max breath hold at the end. Just such co2 tolerance training 30 seconds breath holds it’s with a woman. Really helpful video I can hold my breath for 1 min 45 seconds now and really made me more relaxed when running so heart rate much lower

Congratulations on the subscriber and view count milestone. I've had a few rough weeks as far as having time to train anyway. I'm starting something different next week since my kids are back in school starting tomorrow. That means less time running on my feet and more time running around in the car.

Something you say in this video hit me. And it was the comment that you made about the shingles. When I was in my forties, I got shingles inside one of my eyes. After that, from time to time, I get exactly all the symptoms that you mentioned. But I feel like I am coming down with something, and I don't know what it is. Thanks for sharing. I might have an answer now.

I am really sorry you got it too. It's the worst thing ever. I'd rather give birth 5 times in a row. But yes I went to the hospital to see how badly it had affected my eye and the doctor said with how aggressive it was I was probably going to get post hermetic neuralgia for the rest of my life. I just forget about it and I don't put 2 and 2 together till I get my left eye to bother me. Then I am like... crap again? Supposedly it gets milder and milder every time. But it's sort of like a mild flu that lingers for a few days.

@IRunThings Im sorry to hear that, I never knew it could be so bad . The doctor just prescribed me an eye cream. He mentioned that maybe my immune system was really low, and that was why I got it before my 50s. All these years, I thought I was getting a cold that it was lingering, waiting to happen.

@@IRunThings Weather was great. Two misty days, not real rain. A few days in the low 80's and a good number of overcast days with temps in the mid 70's. Great walking weather in general. On chilly days I wore a long sleeve Merino wool shirt with a light jacket. The jacket usually came off with a an hour or two. Invest in Merino wool long and short sleeve shirts, underwear and socks. Less laundry to do. You can wear that stuff for days and not smell at all. Go for it!!!
