I am 66 years old. I have been on blood pressure medication for 15 years. I was on statins for high cholesterol. Four months ago, I started walking 4 miles a day every single day without fail, and I am now off of blood pressure medication, and I am off of statins. I just had my blood test done and my doctor cannot believe it. All of my levels of cholesterol blood pressure and sugar were in the low normal range. I have you to thank for this, sir, because I saw your video and made the decision to begin walking every day . I hope this true testament from me will help others to do the same.

The reason why you feel better is not so much of the walking, it's because you've stopped drinking. Alcohol and drug use takes a toll on the body overall. Whenever a person stops drinking and using drugs (after going through the withdrawal), they will feel like a brand-new person.

I would like to add that while walking at a fast clip or long intervals is best for you, that doesn't mean if you can't do it you don't try anything. I was ill for two years and ended up very de-conditioned and using a walker. I went through physical therapy and they had me on a schedule to move around for five minutes every hour. I progressed to losing the walker, holding my husbands arm to walk around slowly, to walking around the park and on a treadmill. Now a year later I garden, hike and whatever I want. If you can't do things don't give up. Just push yourself a tiny bit more everyday. If you can only take 100 steps that is OK, try to do it 3 times a day. I'm 61. I was 300lbs, had a heart attack in my early 50s and a pacemaker at 56. I went on a strict KETO diet and began walking every morning for a couple of miles. I've lost close to 100lbs and feel great. Like others have said, once you get past the "Oh God, I have to get up and walk", it becomes I NEED the walk. I feel better when I walk in the morning than when I don't. It's that simple. Fortunately, I have a buddy to do it with and that helps a lot. I walk 6 days a week. Usually leave one day for other stuff like yard work and golf to get my exercise.

I feel great, also, no covid, no,flu...most importantly I get my best ideas when I walk. I sometimes record my ideas as I walk. I am writing, and I am convinced that walking stimulates the brain and increases creativity. I see the results. The last 5 to 10 minutes I spend with the crows, feeding them. You have to give your body a rest because you're not a robot. Even machines break down after an extensive amount of use, so what does that tells you about the human body? When you feel tired, exhausted your body is alerting you to stop and rest. The body can only take so much, and too much of anything is not good for you! If you're overworked and over exercising and not allowing your body to rest, I would strongly advice to you take heed. Some people just don't know when to stop! A person can work out and exercise 24/7, but when God is ready to take us from this earth, there is nothing that nobody can do to stop it, regardless of what we do. If your occupation is already physical, active then you don't really need to do a lot of walking afterwards, because you're getting enough exercise at work, and you're getting paid for it. I'm now retired, but when I was working in a manufacturing facility, (which was very physical) with no air conditioning in the spring and summer months, working 8-10 hours a day for 30+ years, that was my exercise. I was too tired to do anything else when I got home. I took a shower and relaxed for the rest of the day. You think I'm going to go out and walk 4 miles or more, just after working in a hot facility for 8-10 hours? You already know the answer.

You're a good influence, Dave. I've worked a 15-20 minute walk into my post-dinner routine. It's great for digestion and gives me a boost of energy for the evening. I haven't been doing it long, but I think I'll be able to keep it up as I've habit-stacked it onto dinner clean-up. So, thank you! Great videos, and wonderful advice here.😊

I have been Nordic Walking for the last ten years basically every day for about 12,000 steps and some times as high as 30,000. Several years ago my Fitbit notified me that I had walked the distance of the diameter of the earth. I guess when that goal was reached it no longer felt it was necessary to continue to measure. But I don’t care about that…. I am my own motivation. Happy walking y’all.

Since the passing of my dog 4 years ago I started to walk every day for at least 5000 steps or half an hour, come rain come shine but mostly i do 1 hour walking or 10000 steps. The hardest thing is to keep the routine because it sometimes can be boring because i know every corner of my neighbourhood. So I always try to walk somewhere else but also means with the car to another place or parks. On holiday is the best way to walk cos it is discovering new things and it prickest your senses too. So keep on walking and be happy and safe.

YES! To all of this.....I think the key is to just get up and walk. I see so many people who suddenly just get up and decide to run and then get burned out immediately from it when all they really need to to is walk. It really is as simple as that. Although some people might have to start off walking slow at 2mph at first and then build up. Walking is feasible for almost anyone at any age. I walk daily and your information is priceless. Sounds great and I've tried and tried to implement walking because in my 70's I can feel such a difference in my general body flexibility. I'm stiff and sore and my balance isn't great, although, it's not bad but I know things will get worse if I don't do something. So far, I say every night before I go to sleep that 'tomorrow I'm going to start walking' but most times I don't go out and follow through! On top of everything that I've mentioned I'm on 2 meds for Type II diabetes so walking alone would be beneficial to help with my blood sugars. One thing though that I must mention is this: men can safely walk alone in the woods, around most neighborhoods, etc. but females have to be twice as careful when walking alone in the same places so this is another concern. Just my humble opinion but I do hope to be inspired to make walking my priority so that I can live fully and move without pain and stiffness. Thanks for sharing this video and kudos to you for walking everyday.

I just bought an insulated backpack (it’s incredibly lightweight) so I can walk to the grocery store. I put out my clothes and shoes the night before and get everything ready: hat, water bottle, etc. Reduce all frictions. Also helps to just start by walking to the corner. You don’t need to make a huge commitment immediately. Just go to the corner and see what happens. I listen to a classical music station (I’m a cellist) on a small radio, with earbuds. Just keep thinking, what could make this easier and more enjoyable? You can do it!

I totally agree with you about doing it every day--yes, it is the hard part but if you miss a day get back on track. The same goes for lifting weights even if it is only two day a week--the hard part is keeping at it. If you do it long enough it becomes part of your lifestyle whether it is walking, biking, or weight lifting or other kinds of exercise. I walk all year around even in the cold winter, fall, summer, and spring. I find it helps to ward off colds and viruses and keeps my body in shape and running well.

Hi there. Just found your channel and after watching a video or two decided to subscribe. I was a big walker for years, loved it, enjoyed no company, didn't cost anything lost 10kg in 3 months from just walking every day. Didn't change my diet. A short walk for me was usually 5klms one way 5klms back to home. It's easier than people think. My usual walk was always min of 20klms which I did every second day. Some times longer on weekends. 46klms was my longest in one day, took just over 6 hours with 4 stops for no longer than 3 minutes each, water and a few bananas to keep me going. Unfortunately I just stopped for some reason, I have no idea why. I'm keen to get back into it but just had major back surgery so that is holding me back atm. Sitting around doing very little exercise and snacking has stacked on the kilos, so as soon as I'm able enough to walk further than 50 metres up the road, I'll be hitting the tracks. Everyone should be walking when they can, clears the mind ,lose weight and feel and look great. Thanks for your videos, glad I stumbled across them.

I love to walk, but for some of us, there are so many annoying barriers. I live in a place where the weather rarely cooperates (dangerously hot/humid, rains a lot), and there is no pleasant place to walk that is convenient to my apartment home. Yes, I CAN just go down three stories' worth of steps and walk around my ugly, treeless neighborhood, but it's not enjoyable at all. It's also really hard for me to find good walking shoes! A really good pair of shoes is so expensive now. I probably sound old, but I remember when you could get a decent pair of sneakers for $25 and they'd last for years. Anyway, if you live in a place with nice weather on most days, and nice, shady paths to walk (like in this video), you are very blessed. I'll walk again in the fall when the horrible summer heat lets up, and I can drive to some state forest land about 15 minutes away.

It's so simple that it's difficult because we make it hard. I lost 15lbs walking an hour a day for 30 days about 3 months ago. Then I made an excuse to quit. Pollen was bad and it worsened my asthma. I think I need to walk with you for a while. Thank you!

Yeah…the hard part is keeping the commitment we made to ourself. That said, bad asthma is nothing to trifle with. My wife has it and had to go to the hotel once because it got so bad. Scary stuff.

I walk either outside , weayher permitting, or in my home while watching you tube. Very rarely on a treadmill because no matter what I watch or listen to, I find treadmills too boring.

I have a hard time staying on a treadmill longer than ten minutes. For me, it’s a discipline issue. I just don’t have it.

The best analysis of the reasons why to walk - by explaining the negatives we all go through, the questioning, then just getting the hell out there and doing it - thankyou thankyou from someone in England 😘
