Resin transfer molding which can allow for variable blade pitch as rotational speeds increase. A bit as an automatic transmission to shift gears.

Can someone please provide any additional info about this GE geared turbofan demonstrator mentioned at 2:59? I'm not able to find any info on web, about that.

I think he misspoke. AFAIK GE has never done a geared engine. Even when they were doing UDF in the late 70s early 80s they designed a crazy counter-rotating LPT to avoid gears.

All well and fine.......BUT.......Boeing has to get the Max back in the air !!!!! And how about GE get the new Genx9 up and running so BOEING can fly the 777X ???? Single source engine supplier may be good for the engine manufacturer but IF, and it will happen, something goes wrong in an engine, the airlines and aircraft manufacturer are screwed, re Boeing 787's with the defective RR Trent engines !!!! Good thing GE has an engine option on that plane !!!

@@lovesmuffins123 WRONG !!!!! GE discovered a "Wear problem" in the design and the engines that were installed on the first 777X have been removed and sent back to GE for repair/upgrading.....the 777X is not flyable now why it did NOT fly way back in June !!! They had hoped to have been able to fly it to the Paris airshow but that did not happen !!! Try and keep up !!!! It was suppose to have flown 2Q 2019 !!!!

How about a GEnx as an engine upgrade to the Boeing 767-300/200. Could this breath new life into this airframe. As for an engine replacement for the 757, that is completely dead. Boeing officials sat on the hands so long that market has been lost to the A-321XLR

Allowing the Chinese aviation industry access to advanced aero engines such as the LEAP at a time when they are our greatest geopolitical rival, a growing security threat, and are actively trying to modernize their military aero engine industry is maybe not the wisest thing to do. On a side note, I'd argue that being able to install the LEAP on the already low-sitting 737 airframe without changing the landing gear isn't necessarily a positive. I know Boeing was going for commonality with older variants, but again, maybe that wasn't the best thing to do.

The LEAP isn't the cause but how Boeing placed it. Not sure they had a choice considering the ground clearance of the 737
