For those who also got stuck from the previous tutorial in this playlist when we locked and hid elements of the IK01 and Skeleton, this is how you are able to access and unlock those things in the latest version of maya: Select the IK01 or Skeleton > Go to Channel Editor in the Top Right > Edit (On the top right) > Channel Control. Then select all the elements you need (Like Transform x,y,z, Scale x,y,z and Rotate x,y,z) And move them to the keyable section. And also make sure to click the "locked tab" and move these same things out of the locked tab.

Hi ! , I've made a similar skeleton structure for my model like you've shown in the video, and finished binding it to the skin with my model, but when i tried to paint the weight, the workspace on the right only shown the jnt_root1 and its child, and when i tried to select influence for the jnt_l_shoulder01, I couldn't select it nor paint the weight of the influence on it, do you know how to fix it ?

1. Open the Modeling Toolkit: You can find it on the right side of the screen by clicking on the hammer icon or going to the “Mesh” menu. 2. Access the Component Editor: • Go to the Windows menu at the top of Maya. • Select General Editors. • Click on Component Editor.

Unbind, freeze transform the geo ONLY one last time. When you select the bones pay close attention to the outliner to make sure you have not missed a bone. Then try again. Ideally geodesic bind should work with all types if

Hi Reza, how is the palm of the hand/ between the finder knuckles and the wrist weighted in this rig. The wrist joint is and end joint so it is not skin bound to the mesh, so I'm not sure where to weight that area of the hand to.

Hi Alf, Very good question. The real deformation comes from the top fingers. Of course all top joints play a role to help the deformation. Having said that, for more realistic behavior, I tend to add another set of joints to cover that area. Feel free to visit my Intermediate Rigging series>Finger setup to see how I tackle this.
