Good luck with your micans! In my experience with micans, a thorough leaf cleaning at each watering keeps pests away. I put it in the shower, sink or outside and spray with water pretty aggressively. Then I spray all over with an insecticidal soap or neem/Dr. Bronner’s mix (soap spray is optional). Let it sit for half an hour or so and then spray off the soap. The leaves always look so perky and clean afterward and it prevents pests!

I know that the obovata is pretty common, but it's still one of my FAVORITE hoyas❤ Mine started with 5 leaves and 3 years later is now in a 10 INCH pot which had to be either terricota or a heavy ceramic because the leaves are so heavy ( it's not trellised) that it EASILY topples over if it's in any kind of plastic pot😅😊

I have a huge linearis and every once in a while I will trim and create about 10 cuttings. I dip in rooting hormone and stick it back into the pot on watering day. They root on their own. The key is to do short cuttings. Maybe expose three bottom nodes with only a few leaves up top. Mine is so long now I have to drape it over other plants or the cats will chew on it

Can you remove the Micans and let all the vines soak in a sink full of soapy water? Then spray the rest that’s not soaking. A large make up brush (for blush) works great. It’s time consuming but I feel like removing the eggs is just better. I will do this every few days for 2 wks. I just leave the plant there since it’s in my laundry room. That way it’s so much easier to do it again. That’s what I have found to be the easiest thing to do. Then, once I do all that, I will find them on another plant! I hate them and feel like I will have them forever 🙄😡. This method works great though. I had my Micans get them too. I use a spray of soap, rubbing alcohol and hydrogen peroxide with mostly water. I love the foaminess of it while applying to the plant. I really feel like the mites die with that. Plus, you can spray the brush and apply it that way so there aren’t drips. That way, less runs down into the roots of the plant. I always worry about saturation and root rot. Then I rinse it after about 30 mins.

I'll have to do a better job at cleaning and soaking it. I must not have killed them all. This micans is soo long and so many leaves it'll take some work lol

I yelled out a “YES!” When you brought out your Linearis. I have one as well and although I suspected it was a Hoya I didn’t know for sure until I saw yours. Mine is almost 5 feet long and i have it cascading from a shelf. Very beautiful. My wife jumped about 3 feet in the air when I yelled out and when I told her why I yelled she fondly said “you used to just yell at the TV during sports events but now you’re yelling about plants, too.” We both laughed at that but that is a good thing after 39 years of marriage. Thanks for the video and the reason for our happy yelling.

22:52 But are you sure that the type of mites can take care of both spider mites and Thrips? I seem to see warnings on sites where you can by beneficial insects, that they don’t work for the kind of Thrips that’s on indoor plants.

Your totally right with leaf 🍃 cleaning , every since I actually gave my leaves a good rinse with atleast every other watering (usually every single watering - it is a lot but I can’t handle pests lol) I swear pests have dropped by atleast 70% , so I deff rec that. I stopped getting notes I jist didn’t find it effective enough for the price it’s so expensive 😢

I'm not sure what you're asking exactly. I don't know much about alocasia seeds. I imagine you would propagate through division or through growing out corms.
